About the job:
We are looking for a GIS Executive to support Afforestation, Reforestation & Revegetation (ARR) and carbon credit projects across India. This role involves hands-on remote sensing, land eligibility assessment, and spatial data analysis in support of verified carbon standards and MRV activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- LULC mapping and land eligibility assessment using satellite imagery.
- Historical tree cover and change detection analysis.
- Cropland/non-cropland assessment using remote sensing techniques.
- Verification of KML/KMZ, shapefiles, polygons, and field survey data.
- Calculation and interpretation of NDVI, EVI, SAVI, BSI, NDTI, LSWI and other spectral indices.
- Preparation of GIS maps, reports, dashboards, and spatial databases.
- Support carbon project documentation, baseline studies, and MRV activities.
- Coordinate with field teams for geo-spatial data validation.
Required Skills:
- Experience: 1–5 Years
- Hands-on experience in QGIS, ArcGIS and Google Earth Engine (GEE).
- Strong understanding of remote sensing, satellite image analysis, and GIS mapping.
- Experience working with Sentinel, Landsat, Google Earth and similar datasets.
- Ability to independently conduct land eligibility and tree cover assessments.
- Knowledge of forestry, agriculture, watershed, biodiversity, or carbon projects will be preferred.
- Experience in ARR/AFOLU carbon projects and Verra eligibility assessment will be an added advantage.
Qualification:
Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in GIS, Geoinformatics, Remote Sensing, Geography, Forestry, Environmental Science, Agriculture, or related disciplines.
After Selection Process:
Shortlisted candidates will be required to complete a practical GIS assignment involving:
- Multi-year LULC mapping
- Tree cover assessment and change detection
- Agricultural activity verification
- Spectral index calculations
- Cropland/non-cropland classification
- GIS map preparation and reporting
Candidates with hands-on experience in Google Earth Engine and historical land eligibility assessment for ARR/AFOLU carbon projects will be given preference.
