Job Profile
An Assistant Manager in the Electrical and Maintenance Department oversees daily maintenance activities, ensuring electrical systems, machinery, and facility equipment operate efficiently to minimize downtime. They manage technician teams, enforce safety compliance, handle spare parts inventory, and execute preventive/predictive maintenance schedules.
Responsibilities:
- Maintenance Operations: Direct troubleshooting and repair of electrical breakdowns, machinery and facility equipment.
- Preventive/Predictive Care: Develop and implement maintenance schedules, monitor equipment performance, and maintain maintenance records for reliability.
- Team Leadership: Supervise technicians, electricians, and contractors, providing technical training, guidance, and performance evaluations.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure all maintenance activities comply with electrical codes (IS/IEC standards), safety regulations, and 5S standards.
- Inventory & Cost Control: Manage spare parts inventory (using systems like SAP), optimize resource usage, and implement cost-saving initiatives.
- Project Management: Support installation and commissioning of new equipment and manage shutdowns.
- Building Maintenance: Responsible for the overall upkeep, maintenance, and smooth functioning of the factory infrastructure and facility services. The role ensures that all civil, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and utility systems are properly maintained to support uninterrupted operations and a safe working environment and supervise daily building maintenance activities and technical staff also ensure proper functioning of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, DG, lighting, and utility systems.
- Coordinate preventive and breakdown maintenance schedules.
- Monitor housekeeping, repair, and facility upkeep activities.
- Handle vendor management for AMC and maintenance services.
- Ensure workplace safety, statutory compliance, and maintenance standards.
- Maintain records of maintenance activities, complaints, and service reports.
- Coordinate with internal departments for maintenance requirements.
- Monitor material consumption and control maintenance expenses.
- Ensure timely resolution of infrastructure and facility-related issues.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Experience: Typically 7+ years in maintenance or engineering roles, often in continuous process plants.
- Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in LT/HT panels, control systems (PLC/SCADA), and electrical drawings.
- Competencies: Strong leadership, problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
Skills & Requirements
- Knowledge of industrial and commercial electrical systems
- Ability to read electrical drawings and wiring diagrams
- Hands-on experience in troubleshooting electrical faults
- Knowledge of safety procedures and electrical standards
- Ability to work independently and in team
- Experience in furniture factory or manufacturing setup preferred
