Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced MEP Design Head for commercial interior fit-out projects. The candidate will be responsible for leading the complete MEP design function including HVAC, Electrical, Fire Fighting, Plumbing, and ELV systems. The role involves managing design coordination, technical reviews, client interactions, consultant coordination, and ensuring all MEP designs align with project specifications, execution feasibility, statutory standards, and project timelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage complete MEP design activities for commercial interior fit-out projects.
- Review and finalize HVAC, Electrical, Fire Fighting, Plumbing, and ELV designs.
- Coordinate with architects, clients, consultants, PMCs, and project execution teams for design approvals and smooth project delivery.
- Ensure all MEP designs comply with local authority regulations, NBC standards, and client requirements.
- Review BOQs, technical specifications, load calculations, and design drawings.
- Conduct design coordination meetings and resolve technical clashes between architectural, civil, and MEP services.
- Guide the design team in preparing coordinated shop drawings, layouts, and as-built drawings.
- Ensure design optimization for cost efficiency, execution feasibility, and project timelines.
- Support procurement teams in technical evaluations of vendors and materials.
- Monitor project timelines and ensure timely release of drawings and technical submissions.
- Participate in value engineering discussions to optimize project cost and performance.
- Provide technical support to site execution teams during installation, testing, commissioning, and handover stages.
- Manage design changes, revisions, and client comments efficiently.
- Ensure proper documentation and version control of all MEP design deliverables.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, Electrical, Fire Fighting, Plumbing, and ELV systems.
- Expertise in commercial interior fit-out MEP design and coordination.
- Strong understanding of design standards, codes, and authority requirements.
- Ability to review load calculations, SLDs, HVAC calculations, and coordination drawings.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent client handling and consultant coordination skills.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Navisworks, and MS Office.
- Good understanding of project execution and site coordination.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering.
- Additional certifications in MEP design or BIM will be an added advantage.
Experience
- 12–18 years of experience in MEP design for commercial interior fit-out projects.
- Experience handling corporate offices, retail, hospitality, and high-end fit-out projects preferred.
Preferred Candidate Profile
- Strong technical and coordination background in MEP design.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to lead design teams and drive fast-track project delivery.
- Strong commercial understanding and value engineering capability.
- Experience in client-facing roles and consultant management.
