Job Summary:
The Chemistry Professor in the Department of Pharmacy is responsible for teaching undergraduate and/or postgraduate pharmacy students in various chemistry disciplines, including Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, and Biochemistry. The faculty member is expected to deliver high-quality education, conduct research, mentor students, and contribute to academic and institutional development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach chemistry courses relevant to the pharmacy curriculum using effective and innovative teaching methods.
- Develop, review, and update course materials, lesson plans, laboratory manuals, and assessment tools.
- Conduct practical laboratory sessions while ensuring compliance with laboratory safety standards.
- Guide and mentor undergraduate and postgraduate students in academic, research, and project work.
- Conduct research, publish scholarly articles in peer-reviewed journals, and present findings at scientific conferences.
- Participate in curriculum development and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Prepare and evaluate examinations, assignments, practical assessments, and student performance.
- Maintain accurate academic records and submit reports as required by the department.
- Participate in departmental meetings, academic committees, accreditation activities, and institutional events.
- Collaborate with faculty members on interdisciplinary teaching and research projects.
- Apply for research grants and promote innovation in pharmaceutical and chemical sciences.
- Supervise laboratory maintenance, equipment calibration, and inventory of chemicals and reagents.
- Stay updated with advances in chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, and educational technologies.
- Perform additional academic and administrative duties assigned by the Head of the Department or institution.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a closely related discipline.
- Preference for candidates with teaching experience in pharmacy or health science programs.
- Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical chemistry and laboratory techniques.
- Research publications in recognized peer-reviewed journals are desirable.
- Excellent communication, mentoring, and organizational skills.
