The Adobe Illustrator team is looking for a highly motivated and technically strong software engineer to help shape the future of digital creativity. As part of the core engineering team, you will build and evolve the technologies that power vector graphics creation, editing, and next-generation AI-assisted design workflows used by millions of creators worldwide.
You will work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment alongside engineers, designers, researchers, quality engineers, and product managers to deliver innovative experiences that combine precision, performance, and creativity. This role offers the opportunity to solve complex technical challenges across graphics, rendering, document workflows, and generative AI-powered features.
We are looking for someone who takes pride in building high-quality software, thrives in ambiguity, and is passionate about creating magical user experiences that empower designers and illustrators around the world. What You'll Do
Design, develop, and deliver high-quality, scalable, and robust features for Adobe Illustrator.
Own features end-to-end, from technical design through implementation, testing, and release.
Collaborate closely with Product Management, User Experience Designers, Quality Engineers, and Research teams to deliver exceptional creative workflows.
Contribute to the evolution of Illustrator's vector graphics architecture, rendering systems, and AI-powered capabilities.
Write maintainable, testable, and performant code with strong automation coverage.
Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.
Troubleshoot complex technical challenges and drive solutions with a strong customer focus.
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering excellence across the team. What You Need to Succeed
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
4+ years of software development experience.
Strong expertise in C++ and object-oriented software design.
Solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, and software engineering fundamentals.
Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
Experience working in Agile development environments.
Passion for graphics, vector illustration, creative tools, or digital content creation.
Ability to innovate and develop creative solutions for complex technical challenges.
Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to diverse audiences.
Comfortable working in ambiguous problem spaces and adapting to evolving technologies and priorities.
Experience with graphics systems, rendering technologies, creative applications, or AI/ML-powered user experiences is a strong plus.
