Job Summary
Espire Hospitality Group is seeking an experienced and result-oriented Chief Engineer to lead the Engineering Department at ZANA By The Ganges, Rishikesh. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing all engineering operations, ensuring the efficient maintenance of the property's infrastructure, utilities, and technical systems while maintaining the highest standards of safety, operational excellence, and guest satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the overall operations of the Engineering Department.
- Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs for all engineering equipment and facilities.
- Oversee the maintenance and operation of HVAC systems, electrical installations, plumbing, DG sets, STP/WTP, elevators, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, and fire & life safety systems.
- Ensure uninterrupted functioning of all engineering services across guest rooms, villas, restaurants, banquet areas, recreational facilities, public areas, and back-of-house operations.
- Plan, monitor, and execute capital expenditure (CAPEX) and annual maintenance projects.
- Prepare and manage departmental budgets, monitor engineering expenses, and implement cost-control initiatives.
- Drive energy conservation and sustainability programs to improve operational efficiency and reduce utility costs.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory regulations, fire & life safety standards, environmental norms, pollution control requirements, and local government regulations.
- Conduct regular inspections of all engineering installations and ensure timely rectification of deficiencies.
- Lead, mentor, train, and evaluate the engineering team to achieve departmental objectives and high performance.
- Coordinate with all operational departments to ensure prompt resolution of maintenance requests with minimal disruption to hotel operations.
- Manage Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMCs), vendor relationships, and external contractors while ensuring quality standards and timely project completion.
- Maintain engineering documentation, equipment history records, maintenance schedules, statutory compliance records, and audit documentation.
- Ensure the resort is fully prepared to handle emergency situations and oversee the implementation of emergency response procedures.
- Participate in management meetings and contribute to operational planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum 8–12 years of experience in hotel engineering, resort engineering, or facility management.
- At least 3–5 years of experience as a Chief Engineer or Engineering Head in a luxury hotel, resort, or upscale hospitality property.
- Strong expertise in HVAC systems, electrical systems, plumbing, DG operations, STP/WTP, fire & life safety systems, elevators, kitchen and laundry equipment, and building maintenance.
- Excellent leadership, team management, and decision-making abilities.
- Strong knowledge of statutory compliance, safety regulations, engineering audits, and hospitality engineering standards.
- Experience in budgeting, cost control, CAPEX planning, and energy management.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication, vendor management, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) will be an added advantage.
