Arthur Best Consulting Engineers is seeking an experienced Senior Façade Consultant to lead the technical delivery of complex façade engineering and building envelope consultancy projects across the Middle East and international markets.
This is a senior technical consulting role suited for professionals with extensive experience in façade engineering, building envelope design, project leadership, and client advisory services.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead façade consultancy assignments from concept design through construction completion.
- Develop innovative façade strategies considering structural performance, thermal performance, weatherproofing, sustainability, buildability, durability, and aesthetics.
- Provide technical guidance on curtain walls, unitized systems, stick systems, cladding, rainscreens, skylights, glazing systems, louvers, architectural metalwork, and bespoke façade solutions.
- Review architectural intent and propose technically sound and commercially viable façade solutions.
- Prepare and review façade design reports, technical specifications, calculations, performance criteria, and tender documentation.
- Conduct façade system evaluations, design reviews, technical due diligence, and value engineering studies.
- Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, MEP consultants, contractors, façade specialists, and clients throughout project delivery.
- Coordinate and guide the façade engineering team during project delivery, providing technical direction, reviewing outputs, and supporting the team's professional development.
- Review shop drawings, material submissions, mock-ups, samples, and fabrication details for compliance with project requirements.
- Participate in design workshops, client presentations, technical meetings, and project coordination sessions.
- Support façade performance assessments including structural, thermal, acoustic, air permeability, water tightness, condensation, and sustainability considerations.
- Carry out site inspections, factory visits, installation reviews, and provide technical recommendations during construction.
- Ensure compliance with relevant international codes, standards, project specifications, and local authority requirements.
- Support business development by preparing technical proposals, participating in client meetings, and identifying new consultancy opportunities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in façade engineering or building envelope consultancy.
- Strong knowledge of façade systems including curtain walls, glazing, cladding, rainscreen systems, aluminium, steel, stone, GRC/GFRC, UHPC, and architectural façades.
- Proven ability to prepare façade technical specifications, performance specifications, and tender documentation.
- Ability to recommend appropriate façade systems, materials, and performance criteria to meet architectural, functional, and performance requirements.
- Thorough understanding of international façade standards, wind loading, structural behaviour, thermal performance, weatherproofing, and façade detailing.
- Experience delivering projects from concept through design development, tender, fabrication, installation, and site support.
- Demonstrated experience in coordinating engineering teams and reviewing technical deliverables.
- Strong team management, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and guide multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent report writing, presentation, communication, and client management skills.
- Experience working on GCC or international façade consultancy projects will be highly preferred.
