SURVEYING ENGINEER
The Surveying Engineer will be responsible for carrying out accurate land, structural, and construction surveys to ensure that all works are executed according to approved drawings, coordinates, levels, dimensions, and project specifications. The role involves close coordination with site engineers, project managers, consultants, architects, and subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct topographic, boundary, setting-out, and construction surveys for the project.
- Establish and maintain site benchmarks, reference points, grids, coordinates, and control points.
- Carry out accurate setting-out of buildings, foundations, columns, walls, roads, drainage systems, utilities, and other infrastructure works.
- Verify excavation levels, foundation locations, plinth levels, floor levels, structural grids, and building alignments.
- Check verticality, alignment, dimensions, and levels of structural elements during construction.
- Conduct as-built surveys and prepare accurate as-built survey records and drawings.
- Use Total Station, Auto Level, Digital Level, GPS/GNSS, and other modern surveying instruments.
- Transfer coordinates, grids, and levels from approved drawings accurately to the construction site.
- Coordinate with structural, architectural, MEP, civil, and infrastructure teams for survey requirements.
- Verify survey information provided by subcontractors before commencement and completion of works.
- Monitor dimensional accuracy of construction activities and immediately report deviations.
- Assist site teams in resolving discrepancies between drawings and actual site conditions.
- Maintain calibration and proper working condition of all surveying equipment.
- Maintain daily survey records, field books, coordinate data, level records, and survey reports.
- Prepare survey sketches, calculations, setting-out data, and reports as required.
- Support quantity verification and measurement of completed works where necessary.
- Ensure survey activities comply with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and project procedures.
- Coordinate survey inspections with consultants and obtain necessary approvals.
- Ensure compliance with project safety procedures while conducting surveying activities.
Required Qualification
- Diploma / B.Tech / B.E. in Civil Engineering, Surveying, Geomatics, or a related discipline.
- Relevant experience in building, commercial, hospital, high-rise, infrastructure, or large-scale construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of Total Station, Auto Level, Digital Level, GPS/GNSS, and surveying practices.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and preparation/interpretation of coordinates and survey drawings.
- Ability to read architectural, structural, civil, and infrastructure drawings.
- Good understanding of construction tolerances, levels, grids, and dimensional control.
- Strong numerical, analytical, coordination, and documentation skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in large-scale building projects.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar surveying software will be an advantage.
- Experience preparing as-built drawings and survey documentation.
- Ability to independently manage site surveying activities.
- Strong attention to accuracy and detail.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
