Job Summary
The Electrician is responsible for the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of all electrical systems and equipment in the hospital. The role ensures uninterrupted power supply to critical patient care areas, preventive maintenance of electrical equipment, and compliance with hospital safety standards and NABH requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out preventive and breakdown maintenance of all hospital electrical systems.
- Maintain electrical panels, switchboards, wiring, lighting systems, power sockets, and distribution boards.
- Monitor and maintain diesel generators (DG), UPS systems, batteries, and emergency power backup.
- Ensure uninterrupted electrical supply to critical areas such as ICU, OT, Emergency, NICU, Cath Lab, and Dialysis Unit.
- Attend electrical complaints from all hospital departments promptly.
- Install, repair, and replace electrical fixtures, switches, fans, lights, sockets, and other electrical accessories.
- Inspect electrical equipment regularly and identify potential faults or safety hazards.
- Perform routine testing of emergency lighting, generator auto-start systems, and UPS backup.
- Maintain proper earthing and lightning protection systems.
- Coordinate with external vendors for annual maintenance contracts (AMC) and major electrical repairs.
- Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and other electrical safety practices during maintenance.
- Maintain records of preventive maintenance, breakdowns, repairs, and electrical logbooks.
- Assist during electrical inspections, NABH audits, fire safety audits, and statutory inspections.
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety regulations, hospital policies, and infection control practices.
- Respond immediately to electrical emergencies and power failures.
Qualifications
- ITI in Electrician Trade (Mandatory).
- Wireman License/Electrical License (Preferred).
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering is an added advantage.
Experience
- 2–5 years of experience as an Electrician.
- Experience in a hospital or healthcare facility is preferred.
- Knowledge of DG Sets, UPS, LT Panels, HT Systems, Fire Alarm Systems, and Medical Gas Alarm Panels is desirable.
Required Skills
- Good knowledge of electrical distribution systems and hospital infrastructure.
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical faults quickly.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance procedures.
- Familiarity with electrical safety standards and PPE usage.
- Basic understanding of generator, UPS, HVAC, and building management systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of the maintenance team.
- Good communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to respond to emergencies and work on rotational shifts.
Pay: ₹12,000.00 - ₹18,000.00 per month
