About Us
Rise Above Reality is a creative tech agency in Mumbai working across software development and automation, artificial intelligence, and digital marketing. We keep all of it under one roof so that the code, the strategy and the campaign are built by people who actually talk to each other. Clients come to us when the obvious version of the work is not good enough.
We are a small team. What you build ships in days and gets used, you report directly to the CTO, and you will regularly be handed work that sits a little past your current range with someone experienced beside you. That is the fastest way to get good. It does not suit everyone.
About the Role
You will build the automation and internal software that keeps RAR running: everyday engineering combined with applied AI using current models and APIs. The work usually starts as a conversation rather than a specification. Someone on the marketing or delivery side describes a process that swallows three hours every week, and you work out what to build.
We hire on demonstrated ability, not years on a CV. Whether this is your first engineering role or your fifth, expect real ownership early and direct access to the CTO.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain the internal tools, scripts and small web applications our teams use daily.
- Automate real workflows using AI and LLM APIs: document processing, data extraction, reporting and similar manual work.
- Write and document code your colleagues can read, extend and fix without having to ask you first.
- Sit with the people who do a task, learn how it actually works, and identify what can realistically be automated.
- Turn those conversations into a scoped, deliverable plan with support from the CTO.
- Join client discussions and hear requirements first-hand.
- Own small projects end to end, from the first conversation through to production.
Qualifications & Skills
Required
- Working proficiency in Python. You can build something that runs, handles bad input, and survives the second time someone uses it.
- Solid programming fundamentals: data structures, control flow, functions and object-oriented basics.
- Comfort with SQL and relational databases.
- Practical familiarity with Git, even if only from personal projects.
- Evidence that you build things: professional work, personal or academic projects, internships, freelance work or open-source contributions. What you have built matters more to us than where you studied.
- Clear English, written and spoken, and the willingness to ask a question rather than guess. You will be talking to non-technical colleagues constantly.
Preferred
- Projects built on LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic or open-source models), or with LangChain, RAG or similar frameworks.
- Exposure to a cloud platform (AWS, GCP or Azure) or to Docker.
- Front-end fundamentals: HTML, CSS, JavaScript or React.
- Coursework or certification in machine learning or data science.
- Curiosity about infrastructure and how servers, DNS and company networks fit together.
No specific degree required. If you can do the work, we want to talk.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: ₹40,000 to ₹50,000 per month, set by demonstrated skill and experience.
- Paid time off: 21 days a year, plus public holidays. We do not maintain a separate sick-day quota. If you are unwell, take the day and tell us. Nobody here is asked to justify being ill.
- Five-day week: Monday to Friday. Saturdays and Sundays are yours.
- Six-month review: A formal skills and salary review at six months, measured against criteria you receive on day one.
- Equipment: Company MacBook Air (M5) or MacBook Neo, provided for use at the studio.
- Mentorship: Direct, regular working time with the CTO.
Work Location
On-site at our studio in Sakinaka, Mumbai, a five minute walk from Saki Naka metro station. The Tech team works Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.
This is an on-site role. Occasional work-from-home days may be approved by the CTO, but the expectation is that you work from the studio.
