Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) – Psychology
with School Counselling responsibilities as an integral part of the role
The selected candidate will be responsible not only for teaching Psychology at the Senior Secondary level, but will also play an important role in providing student counselling, emotional support, guidance and wellbeing services as an integral part of the position.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach Psychology effectively at the Senior Secondary level in accordance with the prescribed curriculum.
- Plan and deliver engaging, student-centric lessons and assess students’ academic progress.
- Provide individual and group counselling to students on academic, emotional, behavioural and social concerns.
- Support students in developing healthy coping skills, confidence, interpersonal skills and emotional resilience.
- Identify students who may require additional guidance or support and maintain appropriate records with confidentiality.
- Coordinate with parents, teachers and school leadership wherever student wellbeing or developmental concerns require intervention.
- Conduct age-appropriate programmes/workshops on mental wellbeing, stress management, adolescence, life skills, career awareness and emotional intelligence.
- Assist the school in strengthening its student wellbeing and counselling framework.
- Maintain professional ethics, confidentiality and a child-sensitive approach at all times.
- Contribute actively to the overall academic, pastoral and co-curricular life of the school.
Eligibility
- Master’s Degree in Psychology from a recognised university.
- B.Ed. preferred/required as per applicable school norms.
- Relevant qualification/training in School Counselling / Guidance & Counselling will be an added advantage.
- Prior experience as a Psychology teacher and/or School Counsellor will be preferred.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and counselling skills with a genuine commitment towards student wellbeing.
