Overview:
Senior Engine Design and Development Engineer
Responsibilities:
Technical Design & Delivery
-
Own technical responsibility and detailed component/sub-system knowledge for all high-performance ICE components and sub-systems.

Lead the definition, design, and delivery of MAL engine systems in line with attribute, cost, and timing targets.

Create and contribute to the Engine System Technical Product Specification, including engineering drawings, Tech Specs, and DFMA.

Ensure compliance with BS 8888 and ISO GPS (Geometrical Product Specification) standards in all design outputs.

Develop and execute component and sub-system BOM, DFA, FMEAs, DVP, and cost, timing, and quality targets in coordination with Purchasing and SQD teams.
Integration & Programme Support

Collaborate with internal and external design and analysis teams to deliver technical specifications in line with Powertrain & Vehicle programme timing.

Apply innovative solutions for the integration of Powertrain and Driveline technology, considering packaging, aerodynamics, and cooling systems.

Ensure seamless component interface with the wider vehicle, including structural, packaging, and aero-cooling requirements.

Support vehicle programme attribute owners with development activities and reporting.

Plan and control design release aligned to project timing requirements.
Testing, Validation & Manufacturing Support

Lead the execution and evaluation of component testing, supporting powertrain and vehicle development activities.

Provide engineering support across vehicle manufacturing, launch, and production planning phases.
Stakeholder Management & Reporting

Liaise with all internal and external stakeholders – Product Teams, Finance, Suppliers, and Executive leadership – to ensure programme compliance.

Prepare and present material for internal and external project status reviews.

Provide hands-on mentoring and technical support to junior Engineers and external resources.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering (mandatory).

Significant industry experience in high-performance ICE design within OEM or motorsport (specific years commensurate with Senior Engineer grade).

Experience in CATIA V5 and working to BS 8888 / ISO GPS standards is strongly preferred.

Prior exposure to McLaren, motorsport, or high-performance supercar OEM programmes is advantageous.
