We are looking for a skilled VMC Setter Cum Operator to join our VMC machining production team. The candidate should have practical experience in VMC machine setting, tool setting, offset correction, drawing reading, component inspection, and production machining.
The candidate will be responsible for setting up VMC machines, loading tools, setting work offsets, running components, monitoring the machining process, and maintaining required quality and productivity standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Set and operate VMC machines for precision component machining.
- Read and understand engineering drawings, specifications and tolerances.
- Perform machine setting including tool loading, tool offset and work offset setting.
- Set and prove out VMC programs and make necessary corrections.
- Perform tool offset/wear offset corrections during production.
- Conduct first-piece inspection and ensure components meet drawing requirements.
- Use measuring instruments such as Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Height Gauge, Bore Gauge, Thread Gauges, etc.
- Monitor tool condition and replace tools when required.
- Identify and troubleshoot basic machining and dimensional problems.
- Maintain required cycle time, production quantity and quality standards.
- Follow process sheets, work instructions and inspection standards.
- Maintain 5S and housekeeping around the machine.
- Record production, rejection and inspection details.
- Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- Coordinate with Quality and Production teams for resolving machining issues.
- Minimize rejection, rework and machine downtime.
Required Skills
- Good knowledge of VMC machine operation and setting.
- Knowledge of CNC/VMC machining processes.
- Ability to read 2D engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of GD&T will be an advantage.
- Knowledge of cutting tools, tool selection and machining parameters.
- Knowledge of work holding, fixtures and component setting.
- Knowledge of measuring instruments and basic inspection methods.
- Basic knowledge of Fanuc / Mitsubishi / Siemens CNC controls preferred.
- Ability to make basic program corrections and offset adjustments.
- Good understanding of production and quality requirements.
Qualification
ITI / Diploma – Mechanical / CNC Machining / Tool & Die / Production Engineering preferred.
Experience
2–5 years of relevant experience in VMC setting and operation.
Freshers with strong practical CNC/VMC training may also be considered separately.
