Job Summary
The MEE Plant Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Multiple Effect Evaporator (MEE) system to concentrate effluent/process solutions while maintaining optimum plant performance, product quality, and compliance with environmental and safety standards. The role includes monitoring process parameters, troubleshooting operational issues, maintaining records, and coordinating with maintenance and utility teams.
Key ResponsibilitiesPlant Operations
- Operate the Multiple Effect Evaporator (MEE) plant as per SOPs.
- Start-up, shutdown, and stabilize the MEE system safely.
- Monitor evaporation process, vacuum system, condensers, steam pressure, temperatures, and flow rates.
- Maintain optimum concentration levels and evaporation efficiency.
- Ensure continuous operation with minimum downtime.
Process Monitoring
- Monitor and record operating parameters including:
- Steam pressure
- Vacuum levels
- Feed flow
- Condensate flow
- Temperature
- Density/Brix
- Concentration levels
- Adjust operating parameters to maximize recovery and energy efficiency.
- Monitor scaling, fouling, and heat transfer efficiency.
Equipment Handling
- Operate pumps, valves, agitators, heat exchangers, condensers, and vacuum pumps.
- Monitor boiler steam availability and utility consumption.
- Carry out routine cleaning (CIP if applicable) and flushing operations.
- Assist in descaling and preventive maintenance activities.
Quality Control
- Ensure desired concentrate quality is achieved.
- Collect process samples and coordinate with the Quality Control department.
- Maintain production records and batch logs accurately.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all plant safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- Ensure safe handling of chemicals and hot process streams.
- Comply with environmental regulations related to Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD), if applicable.
- Report unsafe conditions, equipment abnormalities, and near-miss incidents immediately.
Maintenance Support
- Identify equipment abnormalities and report maintenance requirements.
- Coordinate with the maintenance team during shutdowns and breakdowns.
- Assist in preventive and predictive maintenance activities.
Documentation
- Maintain shift logbooks.
- Record utility consumption and production data.
- Prepare daily operating reports.
- Maintain housekeeping as per 5S standards.
Required Skills
- Good knowledge of MEE plant operation.
- Understanding of evaporation principles.
- Knowledge of pumps, valves, steam systems, and vacuum systems.
- Basic understanding of instrumentation and process control.
- Ability to troubleshoot process deviations.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of safety practices in chemical plants.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting.
Educational Qualification
- ITI / Diploma in Chemical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Process Engineering.
- B.Sc. (Chemistry) may also be considered.
Experience
- 2–6 years of experience operating MEE plants in Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Distillery, Dye & Intermediates, API, Food Processing, or Effluent Treatment (ZLD) plants.
Pay: ₹300,000.00 - ₹400,000.00 per year
