Position: Project Engineer
Reporting To: Project Manager / Head – Projects
Location: Pune / Project Sites / As per Business Requirement
1. JOB PURPOSE
The Project Engineer will be responsible for the planning, execution, supervision, installation, testing, and commissioning of Aluminium Compressed Air Piping System projects. The role requires close coordination with customers, consultants, contractors, sales teams, and internal departments to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, within the approved scope, budget, and timeline.
The position requires a combination of technical knowledge, project management skills, site execution capability, customer coordination, and problem-solving ability.
2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIESA. Project Planning & Execution
- Review project scope, customer requirements, drawings, BOQ, specifications, and approved quotations before project commencement.
- Prepare project execution plans, schedules, manpower requirements, material requirements, and site activity plans.
- Plan and monitor project activities to ensure timely completion.
- Coordinate with the Sales, Design, Purchase, Stores, Service, and Accounts teams as required.
- Monitor project progress against the planned schedule and take corrective action wherever required.
B. Site Survey & Technical Assessment
- Conduct site surveys to understand customer requirements and existing site conditions.
- Study existing compressed air networks and identify suitable routing for new piping systems.
- Coordinate with customers for identification of compressor room, production areas, utility points, machine locations, and piping routes.
- Prepare site survey reports with photographs, measurements, observations, and technical requirements.
C. Aluminium Piping System Installation
- Supervise installation of Aluminium Compressed Air Piping Systems at customer sites.
- Ensure correct installation of pipes, fittings, valves, drops, outlets, drains, supports, brackets, and accessories.
- Ensure proper alignment, routing, support spacing, and connection of the piping system.
- Monitor installation quality and ensure work is performed according to approved drawings and company installation practices.
- Coordinate with installation technicians, contractors, and customer representatives.
- Identify and resolve site-related technical issues during installation.
D. Drawing & Technical Documentation
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, layouts, P&IDs, BOQs, and technical specifications.
- Coordinate with the design team for preparation/modification of piping layouts and project drawings.
- Verify drawings against actual site conditions before execution.
- Prepare as-built drawings and project documentation wherever required.
- Maintain proper project records, checklists, measurement sheets, and installation reports.
E. Material & Project Coordination
- Prepare and verify project material requirements based on approved BOQ and drawings.
- Coordinate with Stores and Purchase departments for timely availability of project materials.
- Check received materials for quantity, specifications, and physical condition.
- Monitor material consumption at project sites and minimize wastage.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of project materials at site.
F. Testing & Commissioning
- Coordinate pressure testing and inspection of completed piping systems.
- Check for leakage, joint quality, alignment, support, and overall installation quality.
- Coordinate with customers for system testing and commissioning.
- Rectify technical issues identified during testing.
- Prepare commissioning reports and obtain customer confirmation/sign-off after successful completion.
G. Customer Coordination
- Act as the primary technical contact during project execution.
- Maintain professional communication with customer representatives and site teams.
- Attend project review meetings and provide regular progress updates.
- Understand customer concerns and coordinate timely resolution.
- Ensure customer expectations are managed throughout project execution.
- Support the Sales Team during technical discussions, site meetings, and project handovers when required.
H. Project Cost & Timeline Control
- Monitor project execution against approved scope and budget.
- Identify additional work or scope changes and communicate them to management before execution.
- Monitor manpower utilization, material consumption, transportation, and other project-related expenses.
- Ensure projects are completed within the committed timeline.
- Immediately report delays, technical challenges, material shortages, or commercial issues to the reporting manager.
I. Safety & Quality
- Ensure compliance with company safety procedures and customer site safety requirements.
- Ensure workers use appropriate PPE and follow safe working practices.
- Conduct/participate in toolbox talks and site safety briefings where required.
- Ensure quality checks are completed at critical stages of installation.
- Report unsafe conditions, accidents, near misses, and quality deviations to the concerned authority.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship and project quality.
J. Project Closure & Handover
- Complete project documentation before final handover.
- Prepare installation completion reports, testing reports, commissioning reports, and as-built documentation.
- Coordinate customer inspection and final project handover.
- Obtain customer completion/sign-off documentation.
- Coordinate with the Service/After-Sales Team for warranty or service requirements.
- Ensure all pending project activities and punch points are closed before project completion.
3. KEY DELIVERABLES
The Project Engineer will be responsible for:
- Timely completion of assigned projects.
- Quality of installation and workmanship.
- Accurate site measurements and technical documentation.
- Effective utilization of project materials and manpower.
- Successful testing and commissioning.

4. QUALIFICATION
Essential:
- Diploma / Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Knowledge of mechanical engineering fundamentals and industrial piping systems.
Preferred:
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
- Knowledge of compressed air systems, pneumatic systems, industrial piping, or utility projects.
5. EXPERIENCE
Preferred Experience: 1–3 years in project execution, industrial piping, mechanical projects, compressed air systems, or related engineering projects.
Candidates with relevant Diploma/B.E. qualifications and strong site-execution skills may also be considered.
6. TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Good knowledge of industrial piping systems.
- Understanding of compressed air distribution systems.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and layouts.
- Basic knowledge of AutoCAD is preferred.
- Knowledge of BOQ, BOM, and material estimation.
- Understanding of site measurement and project planning.
- Knowledge of pressure testing and commissioning procedures.
- Good knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with project management/CRM software is an advantage.

The position involves regular travel to customer locations and project sites as per project requirements.
A valid driving licence and willingness to travel are preferred.

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
