OMKILKARI Child Development Centre (A Unit of OmKilkari Multispeciality Hospital) is seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and enthusiastic Special Educator to support children with developmental, behavioural, intellectual, and learning challenges.
The Special Educator will play a key role in assessing children's educational needs, designing individualized learning programmes, and working collaboratively with parents, therapists, psychologists, doctors, and teachers to promote holistic child development.
The ideal candidate should be passionate about inclusive education and committed to helping every child achieve maximum independence, confidence, and academic success.
Key ResponsibilitiesAssessment & Planning
- Conduct educational and functional assessments to identify each child's strengths, developmental needs, and learning challenges.
- Develop, implement, and regularly review Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) based on measurable developmental goals.
- Prepare individualized teaching strategies according to the child's cognitive, behavioural, sensory, and communication needs.
Teaching & Intervention
- Conduct one-to-one and small-group intervention sessions using evidence-based teaching methods.
- Adapt curriculum, classroom activities, worksheets, and learning materials to meet individual learning requirements.
- Support the development of:

- Functional independence
- Utilize play-based, activity-based, and multisensory teaching approaches wherever appropriate.
Child Development Support
- Work with children having conditions such as:
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- ADHD
- Intellectual Disability
- Learning Disabilities
- Developmental Delay
- Cerebral Palsy
- Speech and Language Delays
- Down Syndrome
- Other neurodevelopmental conditions
Collaboration
- Coordinate with Paediatricians, Developmental Paediatricians, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, Physiotherapists, and Behaviour Therapists to ensure integrated care.
- Guide parents on home-based educational activities and behavioural strategies.
- Participate actively in multidisciplinary case discussions and treatment planning meetings.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate case records, session notes, progress reports, and assessment documentation.
- Monitor children's progress using measurable outcomes and modify intervention plans accordingly.
- Ensure confidentiality and proper maintenance of clinical and educational records.
Behaviour Management
- Implement positive behaviour support strategies.
- Promote self-confidence, independence, emotional regulation, and social participation.
- Create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.
Professional Development
- Participate in continuing education programmes, workshops, seminars, and in-house training.
- Stay updated with advances in special education, inclusive education practices, and child development.
- Adhere to hospital policies, ethical standards, and applicable professional guidelines.
QualificationsEssential
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Special Education or an equivalent qualification.
- D.Ed. Special Education / B.Ed. Special Education / M.Ed. Special Education from a recognized institution.
- Valid RCI (Rehabilitation Council of India) registration/certification, wherever applicable.
Preferred
- Additional certification in Autism, ABA, Early Intervention, Learning Disabilities, Behaviour Therapy, or Inclusive Education.
Skills & Competencies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Compassionate, patient, and empathetic approach towards children and families.
- Strong understanding of child development and developmental disorders.
- Knowledge of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
- Effective classroom and behaviour management skills.
- Strong observation, assessment, and analytical abilities.
- Excellent documentation and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Familiarity with assistive technology and educational software is desirable.
Experience
- Fresh graduates with the required qualifications are encouraged to apply.
- 1–3 years of experience in Special Education, Early Intervention Centres, Child Development Centres, Inclusive Schools, Rehabilitation Centres, Hospitals, or NGOs will be preferred.
- Experience working with children having Autism, ADHD, Learning Disabilities, or Developmental Delay will be an added advantage.
Work Environment
The Special Educator will work within a multidisciplinary Child Development and Rehabilitation team in a collaborative healthcare setting. Responsibilities include conducting individualized educational interventions, participating in interdisciplinary case conferences, supporting inclusive learning practices, and empowering families through education and counselling.
