OT Technician-Job Description
Job Summary
Mardamed Healthcare is looking for a skilled and responsible OT Technician to support surgical teams by preparing and maintaining the operation theatre, handling surgical instruments and equipment, assisting during procedures, and ensuring strict adherence to infection control and patient safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
· Prepare and maintain the operation theatre before, during, and after surgical procedures.
· Ensure availability, cleanliness, sterilization, and proper arrangement of surgical instruments, equipment, consumables, and supplies.
· Assist surgeons, anesthetists, nurses, and other clinical staff during surgical procedures as instructed.
· Maintain a sterile environment and follow standard infection control, hygiene, and aseptic protocols.
· Check, connect, operate, and troubleshoot OT equipment and ensure readiness for procedures.
· Support patient shifting, positioning, and preparation for surgery while maintaining dignity, safety, and comfort.
· Assist in handling emergency situations inside and outside the operation theatre when required.
· Clean, disinfect, restock, and prepare the OT after each procedure.
· Maintain accurate records of instruments, consumables, procedures, sterilization cycles, and inventory usage.
· Follow biomedical waste management, radiation safety, and hospital safety protocols.
· Coordinate with CSSD, Nursing, Anesthesia, Biomedical, and stores departments for smooth OT functioning.
· Report equipment faults, supply shortages, safety concerns, or protocol deviations to the concerned supervisor immediately.
Qualifications and Experience
· Diploma, certificate, or degree in Operation Theatre Technology, OT Technician, Surgical Technology, or a related paramedical field.
· Prior experience as an OT Technician, OT Assistant, Surgical Technician, or Scrub Technician is preferred.
· Freshers with relevant clinical training or internship experience may also be considered.
· Knowledge of sterilization procedures, surgical instruments, OT equipment, infection control, and biomedical waste management is required.
Required Skills and Competencies
· Strong understanding of aseptic techniques and infection prevention practices.
· Ability to remain calm, alert, and efficient during surgical and emergency situations.
· Good coordination with doctors, nurses, anesthetists, and support staff.
· Attention to detail in instrument handling, equipment checks, and documentation.
· Physical stamina to stand for long hours and assist with patient movement when required.
· Professional behavior, confidentiality, discipline, and willingness to work in shifts.
· Candidate should be disciplined, detail-oriented, patient-focused, and capable of supporting safe and efficient surgical care.
· Candidate must be comfortable working in a clinical environment, following hospital protocols, and coordinating with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
