NURSING STAFF
· Handling and taking over of patient in each shift with special emphasis on serious patients.
· Admission, discharge and transfer of patients and proper recording of the date & time of such events in their ward/ unit register.
· Assisting doctors in medical examination and treatment
· Identifying nursing needs of the patients and implements then accordingly
· Providing Bed-side care to patients as assigned to her by the nursing sister.
o Attends to the nutritional needs of the patients
o Maintaining personal hygiene and comfort of the patients
o Performing technical tasks.
o Administration of medication and oxygen etc.
o Recording vital signs, including but not limited to BP, Pulse, Temperature, CVP, Respiration, Oxygenation, Input- Output charting as per the requirement of the case.
o Assisting in transfusion and maintenance of intake-out-put charts.
o Assisting the doctor in collection of samples in specific bottle duly signed by doctors e.g. for blood grouping and cross matching etc.
o Giving oral care, sponge bath, back care as and where required
o Preparation and administration of tube feeds
o Application of minor dressing
o Giving of the stomach wash.
o Planning of position of the patient to prevent bedsores
o Giving enema, bowel washes etc.
o Catheterization of patients
o Care of dying/dead
§ Information to the doctor on duty urgently about any problem of the indoor ward patient
§ Any of the terminally sick patient will not be left alone
§ Handing over of the correct dead body along with the proper death form/summary etc. to the attendants of the deceased or the police in cense of Medico legal cases.
§ It will be ensured by the staff nurse that no medico legal case dead body is handed over to the relations directly.
o Providing clean environment for the patients
- Maintenance of patients’ records.
- Assisting doctors and senior nursing officers in rounds
- Imparting health education to patients and the relatives
- Reporting of the defective equipments to the Hospital Administrator.
- Ensuring adequate supplies for nursing care round the clock.
- Carrying out any other assignment given by the senior personnel from time to time.
- Medication to be given under strict direct supervision
- Preparation for X-Ray, CT scan,& OT & other invasive and non-invasive procedures.
- Complete Physical assessments
- Coordinating patient care with various health team members
- Maintaining proper records and reports
- Observing changes in patients condition and takes necessary action and reports to concerned authority
- Imparting health education to patients and their relatives
- Observation of patients’ behavior in the ward especially for those who are suicidal, homicidal and violent.
- To help in behavioral assessment of the patients as directed admitting Consultants.
· She actively participates in all quality & accreditation related initiatives of the hospital
