After-Hours Dispatch Coordinator

About the Role
We are seeking a reliable and proactive After-Hours Dispatch Coordinator to support our Canadian trucking operations during evening and overnight hours. The ideal candidate will be responsible for monitoring active shipments, communicating with drivers and customers, handling operational issues, and ensuring smooth transportation operations outside regular business hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and track active loads during after-hours operations.
- Communicate with drivers regarding pickup, delivery, delays, breakdowns, and other operational issues.
- Provide timely updates to customers, dispatchers, and management.
- Handle after-hours emergencies and resolve transportation-related issues efficiently.
- Coordinate with brokers, customers, drivers, and internal teams.
- Monitor ELD/GPS tracking systems and ensure shipment visibility.
- Maintain accurate records of load status updates and communications.
- Assist drivers with route-related issues, appointment updates, and detention tracking.
- Escalate critical issues to management when required.
- Ensure excellent customer service and operational support throughout the shift.
Requirements
- Minimum 6 months of experience in dispatch, logistics, transportation, or customer service.
- Excellent English communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
- Ability to manage stressful situations professionally and efficiently.
- Willingness to work night shifts on a full-time basis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Canadian trucking, dispatch, freight brokerage, or logistics operations.
- Familiarity with load boards, GPS tracking systems, and transportation software.
- Understanding of Hours of Service (HOS), ELDs, and trucking operations is an asset.
- Experience handling after-hours or emergency operations support.
