Guru Nanak College, Dehradun invites applications from qualified and motivated candidates for the position of Assistant Professor in Biochemistry. The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate students enrolled in programs such as Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT), Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm.), Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm.), and other allied health science courses.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach Biochemistry courses to undergraduate students using effective and student-centered teaching methodologies.
- Deliver lectures, practical demonstrations, tutorials, and laboratory sessions aligned with the university curriculum.
- Prepare lesson plans, teaching materials, assignments, and assessment tools.
- Evaluate student performance through internal assessments, practical examinations, and university examinations.
- Mentor and guide students in academic and professional development.
- Maintain laboratory records and ensure proper use and maintenance of laboratory equipment and reagents.
- Participate in curriculum development, departmental meetings, academic planning, and quality assurance activities.
- Contribute to research, publications, seminars, workshops, faculty development programmes, and institutional activities.
- Support accreditation, regulatory compliance, and documentation as required by the college and affiliating university.
- Perform other academic and administrative responsibilities assigned by the Head of Department or the Principal.
Essential Qualifications
- M.Sc. in Biochemistry from a recognized university.
- Preference will be given to candidates with a Ph.D. in Biochemistry or a closely related discipline.
- Candidates should fulfill the eligibility criteria prescribed by the relevant statutory and regulatory authorities, where applicable.
Preferred Skills
- Strong understanding of human biochemistry and its clinical applications for physiotherapy, pharmacy, and allied health sciences.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in laboratory teaching and handling biochemical instruments.
- Ability to integrate modern teaching techniques, digital learning platforms, and outcome-based education.
- Demonstrated interest in research, academic publications, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Experience
- Prior teaching experience in a pharmacy, physiotherapy, medical, or allied health sciences institution is desirable.
- Fresh candidates with excellent academic credentials and a strong aptitude for teaching may also apply.
