Role Overview:
A Financial Account Assistant for a hospital is a specialized role responsible for overseeing the financial health of the organization, managing the complex revenue cycle, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. They bridge clinical operations and financial management, ensuring that patient services are properly billed, insurance claims are paid, and hospital expenses are controlled.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Hospital Administration.
- Certifications: Professional certifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), or Certified Healthcare Financial Professional (CHFP) are highly preferred.
- Experience: Proven experience in a financial role, preferably 1-5+ years within the healthcare industry.
Typically requires a degree in Finance or Accounting (e.g., B.Com, M.Com, MBA Finance) with experience in healthcare accounting or a similar, fast-paced environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in financial software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

- Provide counseling to patients regarding treatment plans, procedures, and hospital protocols.
- Explain financial details such as treatment estimates, billing, insurance coverage, and payment options.
- Assist patients during admission and discharge by ensuring all required documents and steps are completed.
- Address patient queries, concerns, and grievances professionally and provide appropriate solutions.
- Coordinate with doctors, nurses, billing, and other departments for seamless patient service.
- Maintain accurate records of counselling sessions, financial discussions, and patient interactions.
- Ensure patient comfort and satisfaction by offering clear communication and timely assistance.
- Follow hospital policies, ethical guidelines, and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
