Job Title: Boiler & Turbine Engineer

Job Purpose
To ensure safe, efficient, and uninterrupted operation of the boiler and turbine units by supervising daily activities, preventive maintenance, statutory compliances, and optimizing steam & power generation for the Pulp & Paper manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Boiler Operations
- Supervise operation of high-pressure boilers (AFBC/CFBC/WHRB if applicable).
- Maintain optimum steam pressure, temperature & water quality.
- Monitor fuel consumption and efficiency parameters.
- Ensure boiler safety valves, gauges & controls are functioning properly.
- Conduct routine and shutdown inspections.
2. Turbine Operations
- Supervise operation of steam turbine generator (STG).
- Monitor turbine performance and maintain required output.
- Handle start-up, shutdown and emergency procedures.
- Ensure vibration levels and lubrication systems are within limits.
3. Safety & Statutory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Boiler Act, IBR rules, Factory Act and pollution norms.
- Maintain all statutory records, logbooks, and inspection checklists.
- Coordinate with boiler inspector for certification & annual inspections.
- Promote safe work practices and conduct safety drills.
4. Maintenance Planning
- Coordinate with mechanical & electrical maintenance teams for preventive and breakdown maintenance.
- Plan spares, consumables and AMC requirements.
- Reduce downtime by timely troubleshooting.
5. Process Optimization
- Improve steam-to-power ratio, fuel efficiency, and heat recovery.
- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities.
- Monitor KPIs like steam generation cost, turbine heat rate, and overall plant efficiency.
6. Team Management
- Lead and guide boiler attendants, turbine operators and shift utility staff.
- Conduct on-the-job training and skill improvement sessions.
- Maintain discipline and shift-wise manpower planning.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma / B.E. – Mechanical / Electrical Engineering
- 1st Class or 2nd Class Boiler Attendant Certificate (mandatory per IBR norms)
- 8–12 years experience in Boiler & Turbine operations in Pulp & Paper / Process / Power Plant industry
- Exposure to high-pressure boilers (45 TPH and above) and STG operations preferred.
