Pastry / Bakery Sous chef required for our Premium European Pastry & Bakery chain.
Location : Guruvayur
Package : 35k - 50k plus accommodation & food
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Menu Development: Research, develop, and test new recipes for desserts, pastries, and baked goods.
- Production: Prepare a variety of baked goods, including cakes, cookies, and desserts, often in high volumes.
- Artistic Presentation: Decorate and plate pastries using advanced techniques like sugar work or chocolate tempering.
- Inventory Management: Monitor ingredient stocks, order supplies, and maintain kitchen equipment.
- Kitchen Hygiene: Ensure compliance with all health, sanitation, and food safety regulations.
- Supervision: Train, lead, and supervise junior kitchen staff, such as pastry assistants or bakers.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Technical Skill: Extensive knowledge of baking techniques, pastry-making, and ingredient functionality.
- Creativity: Strong artistic ability for decorating and designing unique, high-quality desserts.
- Leadership: Ability to lead a station, train staff, and work efficiently under pressure.
- Education/Experience: Certificate in culinary arts, pastry-making, or a related field, often with proven experience as a pastry chef.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to work long hours, early mornings, or late nights in a hot kitchen environment.
