Summary:
Act as the ongoing interface between the client and the system or application. Responsible for system administration of Microsoft Windows Server and Linux (RHEL) environments alongside Ansible-based infrastructure automation across a hybrid on-premises and cloud estate.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Administer Microsoft Windows Server (2012, 2016, 2019, 2022, 2025) including File Services
Administer Linux servers (RHEL 6/7/8/9/10) including installation, configuration, package management (YUM/DNF/APT), and OS hardening
Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks, roles, and inventories for automated provisioning, configuration management, and patching across Windows and Linux
Manage Windows patch cycles using WSUS and Linux patching via Red Hat Satellite or native package managers, coordinated through Ansible
Configure and manage user accounts, SSH key management
Monitor system health, performance metrics (CPU, memory, disk, network) and respond to alerts across Windows and Linux environments
Manage storage configuration, LVM, NFS/CIFS mounts, and file system management across multi-OS environments
Maintain Ansible Automation Platform (AAP): manage job templates, credentials, projects, and scheduled automation runs
Support application teams with server builds, configuration changes & OS-level troubleshooting
Develop and maintain Ansible roles that enforce consistent configuration baselines across both Windows and Linux fleets
Maintain system runbooks, Ansible repository documentation, patching schedules, and configuration management records
Enterprise Tools & Platforms:
Windows Server: WSUS, Windows Admin Center, PowerShell, Windows Event Viewer
Linux: RHEL, YUM / DNF / APT, systemd, SELinux / AppArmor, LVM, OpenSSH, cron
Ansible: Ansible Core, Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) Roles, Playbooks, Inventory
Patch Management: WSUS, Azure Update Manager, Red Hat Satellite, Ansible patch playbooks
Monitoring: Splunk
Automation: Ansible, Bash / Shell, PowerShell, Python, Git (version control for playbooks)
ITSM: ServiceNow
Backup: Networker, AWS Backup
SLA / KPI Ownership:
Ensure adherence to SLA/KPI commitments across Windows Server, Linux, and Ansible automation platforms
Track MTTR (Mean Time to Resolve) and MTTA (Mean Time to Acknowledge) for all infrastructure incidents
Monitor system uptime, patch compliance rates, Ansible job success rates, and performance baselines
Publish service performance reports and contribute to monthly service review decks
Client Facing Responsibilities:
Participate in war room calls during major platform incidents across Windows and Linux environments
Handle escalation matrix and maintain clear communication with application, development, and business stakeholders
Provide timely status updates during incidents, patching windows, and server build events
Participate in governance, service review, CAB, and capacity planning meetings
Coordinate with Red Hat Support and Microsoft Premier Support for critical OS-level issue resolution
Professional & Technical Skills:
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills in a client-facing environment
Ability to handle critical multi-OS infrastructure incidents and coordinate escalations under pressure
Flexible to work in a hybrid on-call or 24/7 rotation model as required
Strong analytical mindset with experience troubleshooting across Windows and Linux environments simultaneously
Willingness to continuously develop Ansible automation skills and drive infrastructure-as-code adoption
Microsoft Windows Server (2012/2016/2019/2022/2025), Linux (RHEL 6/7/8/9/10), Ansible (Automation & Configuration Management), Hybrid Infrastructure Operations, Bash / Shell Scripting, PowerShell
3 to 5 years of total experience in system administration across Windows Server and Linux in a hybrid environment
Hands-on experience writing Ansible playbooks for both Windows (WinRM) and Linux (SSH) node management
Working knowledge of Windows Server administration including Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and patch management
Practical Linux administration experience including SELinux, LVM, networking, and systemd service management
Familiarity with Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) or AWX for centralized automation job management
Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) for managing hybrid Windows and Linux workloads is a plus
Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) preferred Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or Ansible Automation Specialist a strong plus
Additional Information:
