The Role:
The Cloud Consultant is a member of the Cloud Practice, supporting the delivery of Azure Cloud solutions into customer environments. The role works closely with senior consultants and engineers to assist in implementing cloud projects.
Role Responsibilities:
- Designing and executing cloud assessments using tools such as Azure Migrate to evaluate workload readiness, risks, and cost considerations prior to migration.
- Performing cloud environment reviews aligned with industry best practice frameworks (e.g. Well-Architected Reviews), focusing on cost optimisation and operational efficiency, and leveraging native cloud cost management and monitoring tools to improve visibility and identify actionable savings opportunities.
- Implementing and delivering cloud projects in line with defined scope, timelines, and quality standards.
- Maintaining and enhancing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for Azure cloud [DS1] environments, including version control and updates to Azure landing zone configurations aligned with the Azure cloud landing zone principles.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to plan and deliver cloud services, ensuring alignment on timelines and resource requirements.
- Providing Level 2/Level 3 technical support to resolve complex cloud infrastructure and platform issues.
- Contributing to design, documentation, and implementation guides.
- Ensuring high service quality through adherence to best practices, standards, and attention to detail.
- Working with vendors such as Microsoft to stay aligned with platform capabilities and best practices.
- Assisting in the development and standardisation of cloud service offerings, including reusable templates and automation.
- Participating in knowledge sharing and mentoring within the engineering team.
- Pursuing and maintaining relevant industry certifications and keeping up to date with cloud technologies and trends.
- Contributing to internal process improvements, documentation, and automation initiatives to enhance delivery efficiency.
Key Competencies and Qualifications Required:
- 3–5 years of experience in IT Infrastructure, Cloud, or System Administration
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure and cloud infrastructure services, including Virtual Machines, Storage, and Networking (VNets).
- Understanding of cloud migration concepts and tools such as Azure Migrate, including lift-and-shift (rehost) migrations.
- Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using ARM/Bicep and/or Terraform.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Entra ID, RBAC, MFA, cloud security best practices, and governance concepts.
- Knowledge of Windows/Linux, DNS, IP addressing, firewalls, virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V), and Azure Monitor.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, with a willingness to learn, contribute to documentation, and pursue advanced cloud certifications.
