Field Operations Engineer to support the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of broadband, leased line, and fiber-optic network services. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with FTTH/FTTx, GPON, Ethernet, and ISP network infrastructure, ensuring timely service delivery and high network availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and commission FTTH, FTTx, GPON, Broadband, and Dedicated Leased Line (ILL) connections.
- Perform fiber optic splicing, cable termination, OTDR testing, and power meter testing.
- Troubleshoot network issues related to optical fiber, customer premises equipment (CPE), ONT/ONU, routers, and switches.
- Install and configure enterprise networking devices, including routers, switches, Wi-Fi access points, and media converters.
- Resolve field incidents within SLA timelines and coordinate with the NOC team for escalations.
- Conduct preventive maintenance of fiber infrastructure and network equipment.
- Support backbone, access, and last-mile network deployments.
- Perform site surveys and feasibility studies for new customer installations.
- Prepare installation reports, service reports, and documentation after field activities.
- Coordinate with customers, vendors, and internal teams to ensure smooth service delivery.
- Maintain inventory and ensure proper handling of network equipment and tools.
- Follow company safety standards and installation best practices.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of FTTH, FTTx, GPON, Ethernet, TCP/IP, VLANs, and IP addressing.
- Hands-on experience with fiber splicing, OTDR, optical power meter, and fusion splicing.
- Knowledge of broadband technologies and ISP network architecture.
- Experience configuring routers, switches, ONT/ONU devices, and wireless equipment.
- Ability to diagnose fiber cuts, signal loss, and customer connectivity issues.
- Good communication and customer-handling skills.
- Ability to work independently and in field environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in an ISP, Telecom, or Fiber Broadband company.
- Certifications in Fiber Optics, GPON, or Networking will be an added advantage.
