Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced QC Engineer – Level 2 with strong knowledge of Structural and Piping Quality Control. The candidate will be responsible for inspection, testing, documentation and quality compliance of structural steel and piping fabrication/erection activities at the project site.
Key Responsibilities
Structural Quality Control
Inspect structural steel fabrication and erection activities as per approved drawings and specifications.
Check material certificates, dimensions, fit-up, alignment, level and orientation.
Inspect welding activities, weld joints and welding consumables.
Verify welding procedures, WPS/PQR and welder qualification records.
Coordinate and monitor NDT activities such as DPT, MPT, UT and RT as applicable.
Check bolting, torqueing, connections and structural erection activities.
Inspect surface preparation, blasting and painting/coating activities.
Prepare inspection reports, checklists and quality records.
Piping Quality Control
Inspect piping fabrication, fit-up and erection activities.
Verify pipe, fittings, flanges, valves and other materials against approved specifications and MTCs.
Check pipe alignment, orientation, slope, supports and dimensions.
Inspect welding joints and ensure compliance with approved WPS/PQR.
Verify welder qualifications and welding consumables.
Coordinate NDT, hydro testing, pneumatic testing and flushing activities as required.
Check piping supports, valves, flanges and joint assemblies.
Review piping isometric drawings and relevant specifications.
Ensure proper identification, traceability and documentation of piping materials and weld joints.
Documentation & Quality Management
Prepare and maintain Inspection Test Plans (ITP), Quality Control Plans, checklists and Inspection Requests (IR).
Maintain weld maps, NDT reports, material traceability records and test reports.
Prepare daily/weekly quality reports.
Raise and follow up on NCRs, observations and corrective actions.
Coordinate with client/consultant inspectors for inspection and approvals.
Ensure all work complies with approved drawings, project specifications, applicable codes and standards.
Maintain complete quality dossiers and turnover documentation.
Required Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of Structural Steel and Piping QC.
Good knowledge of welding inspection and fabrication processes.
Knowledge of WPS, PQR and Welder Qualification Test (WQT/WPQ).
Knowledge of NDT methods: RT, UT, MT and PT/DPT.
Ability to read structural drawings, piping GA drawings and isometric drawings.
Knowledge of hydro testing, pneumatic testing and flushing.
Knowledge of material identification and traceability.
Knowledge of structural bolting, torqueing, painting and coating inspection.
Good knowledge of ITP, method statements, inspection checklists and NCR procedures.
Working knowledge of relevant ASME, AWS, API, ASTM and project specifications.
Good knowledge of MS Excel and quality documentation.
