About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven General Manager – Manufacturing Operations to lead and manage our manufacturing plant in Coimbatore. The role carries full responsibility for plant performance, including production, quality, delivery, cost control, profitability, inventory management, workforce leadership, and customer satisfaction.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in precision manufacturing, CNC machining, injection moulding, assembly operations, lean manufacturing, and ERP-driven plant management. This position requires a hands-on leader who can drive operational excellence, ensure just-in-time delivery, maintain zero-defect quality standards, and build high-performing teams.
Key ResponsibilitiesOperations & Production Management
- Lead end-to-end plant operations and overall manufacturing performance.
- Ensure on-time, in-full (OTIF) delivery to customers through effective production planning and scheduling.
- Drive operational excellence across CNC machining, injection moulding, and assembly operations.
- Improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) through preventive maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor productivity, capacity utilization, and process efficiency.
Quality Management
- Establish and maintain a zero-defect manufacturing culture.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards and customer requirements.
- Reduce quality rejections, scrap, and rework through process improvements.
- Implement root cause analysis and corrective action programs.
Cost & Profitability
- Own plant cost, margin, and profitability performance.
- Drive cost reduction through productivity enhancement, cycle-time reduction, yield improvement, and waste elimination.
- Manage inventory and working capital effectively.
- Optimize manpower utilization and operational expenses.
Customer & Business Management
- Act as the primary interface between the plant and OEM customers.
- Build strong customer relationships through reliable delivery and quality performance.
- Support business growth by enhancing operational capabilities and customer confidence.
Leadership & People Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop a workforce of approximately 120 employees across multiple shifts.
- Build a performance-driven culture focused on accountability and continuous improvement.
- Ensure employee engagement, safety, discipline, and compliance with labour regulations.
- Strengthen management capabilities and succession planning.
ERP & Governance
- Drive ERP adoption and data accuracy across manufacturing operations.
- Monitor KPIs related to production, quality, inventory, cost, and delivery.
- Provide regular MIS and performance reports to senior management.
- Ensure compliance with statutory, safety, and company policies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- 12–18+ years of experience in manufacturing operations.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience as Plant Head, Operations Head, General Manager, or Business Unit Leader.
- Strong experience in CNC machining, moulding, assembly, and precision manufacturing.
- Proven expertise in Lean Manufacturing, JIT (Just-in-Time), TPM, OEE, and Continuous Improvement.
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems and inventory management.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
Pay: ₹100,000.00 - ₹125,000.00 per month
