Job Description (JD) – Electrician (Construction Site)
Position: Electrician
Department: Electrical / Projects
Location: Construction Site
Reporting To: Site Engineer / Electrical Engineer / Project Manager

Key ResponsibilitiesElectrical Installation
- Install electrical wiring, conduits, cable trays, trunking, and raceways.
- Pull, terminate, and test power and control cables.
- Install switchboards, distribution boards (DB), panels, MCCs, lighting fixtures, sockets, and electrical accessories.
- Install earthing and lightning protection systems.
- Assemble and install electrical equipment as per approved drawings.
Testing & Commissioning
- Conduct insulation resistance, continuity, and earth resistance tests.
- Assist in testing and commissioning of electrical systems.
- Identify and rectify electrical faults before project handover.
- Maintain testing records and reports.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults.
- Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance.
- Replace defective electrical components and wiring.
- Ensure uninterrupted power supply during construction activities.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all electrical safety regulations and company HSE policies.
- Use PPE and insulated tools while performing electrical work.
- Implement Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures before maintenance.
- Report unsafe conditions immediately.
- Maintain proper housekeeping in electrical work areas.
Documentation
- Maintain daily work reports.
- Record material consumption.
- Report progress to the Site Engineer.
- Assist in preparing inspection and testing documentation.
Coordination
- Coordinate with civil, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and instrumentation teams.
- Support subcontractors during electrical installation.
- Attend toolbox talks and daily site meetings.
Required Qualifications
- ITI Electrician / Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
- Valid Electrical Wireman/Supervisor License (preferred).
- Knowledge of Indian Electrical Standards and Safety Regulations.
Experience
- ITI Holder: 2–5 years of construction site experience.
- Diploma Holder: 1–3 years of experience.
- Experience in industrial, commercial, pharmaceutical, warehouse, or infrastructure projects is preferred.
Required Skills
- Reading electrical drawings and schematics.
- Cable termination and panel wiring.
- Conduit and cable tray installation.
- Electrical fault finding.
- Use of testing instruments (Multimeter, Megger, Clamp Meter, etc.).
- Knowledge of earthing systems.
- Basic computer knowledge for reporting.
- Good communication and teamwork.
- Time management and problem-solving skills.
Safety Responsibilities
- Comply with company HSE requirements.
- Participate in safety training and toolbox talks.
- Ensure safe use of ladders, scaffolding, and electrical tools.
- Report near misses, incidents, and hazards immediately.
Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Quality of electrical installations.
- Zero safety violations.
- Timely completion of assigned work.
- Minimum rework.
- Compliance with project schedules.
- Proper material utilization.
- Attendance and discipline.
Working Conditions
- Outdoor and indoor construction site environment.
- Work at heights and confined spaces when required.
- Overtime and shift work as per project requirements.
- Travel to different project locations as assigned.
Preferred Certifications
- ITI Electrician Certificate.
- Electrical Wireman License.
- First Aid Certification.
- Work at Height Training.
- Electrical Safety / LOTO Training.
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹28,000.00 per month
