"Focus: Executing database vulnerability remediations, applying vendor patches, and performing version upgrades across multiple database platforms while ensuring high availability and zero data loss.
Key Responsibilities:
. Execute pre approved patching, minor version upgrades, and configuration hardening for database environments, specifically focusing on Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
. Perform comprehensive pre patching activities, including taking reliable backups, verifying database health, and testing rollback procedures.
. Implement security configuration changes (e.g., disabling default accounts, enforcing strong authentication, encrypting data at rest and in transit) to remediate audit findings.
. Collaborate with the Lead DB Remediation Engineer to schedule maintenance windows and coordinate downtime with application owners.
. Conduct post patching verification, including testing application connectivity, checking error logs, and monitoring database performance to ensure no regressions occurred.
. Document all patching steps, MOPs (Methods of Procedure), and remediation outcomes in the ITSM platform (ServiceNow).
Mandatory Skills:
. Database Administration: 4 6 years of hands on DBA experience managing enterprise databases, with strong proficiency in at least two of the following: Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB.
. Patching & Upgrades: Proven experience executing complex database patching cycles, minor/major version upgrades, and applying security critical updates (CPUs/PSUs).
. Backup & Recovery: Solid understanding of database backup utilities (e.g., RMAN, pg_dump) and point in time recovery processes to safeguard data during remediation.
. Scripting & Querying: Proficiency in SQL and procedural extensions (PL/SQL, PL/pgSQL) for querying database configurations, as well as Shell scripting for automating routine DBA tasks.
. Performance Monitoring: Ability to monitor database health and troubleshoot performance degradation post remediation using native and third party tools.
