Main Responsibilities and Duties
The Design and Outreach Associate will report to the NCAER National Data Innovation Centre (NCAER-NDIC) Director. Their duties will involve:
- Support NDIC’s overall external engagement, working under the supervision and guidance of the Centre Director and Senior Fellows.
- Support NDIC’s print and digital communications programme by developing innovative and creative communication products.
- Develop, manage, and publish content on NDIC’s social media platforms and website on a regular basis using a social media calendar.
- Design presentation templates, brochures, and outreach materials while maintaining a consistent institutional brand identity across communication products.
- Produce short videos and multimedia content documenting NDIC’s research, fieldwork, events, and data collection activities.
- Collaborate with NDIC researchers to develop newsletters, data briefs, infographics, and other communication products.
- Derive multiple messages calibrated for different stakeholder audiences and across the latest multi-media and other platforms, while ensuring these are always consistent with NDIC’s and NCAER’s key brand, messaging, and values.
- Actively seek to promote a culture of knowledge sharing across teams.
- Other additional tasks as deemed necessary by the Centre Director.
Qualification, Experience and Demonstrated Skills
- Educational Qualification: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree/diploma in Mass Communications, Journalism, Graphic Design or related fields from a reputed institution.
- Experience: Prior experience in communications, graphic design, or digital outreach for a research organisation, think tank, university, public policy institution, or development organisation is highly desirable.
- Time Management: Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail and managing multiple tasks efficiently.
- Communication Skills: Excellent writing and communication skills are essential.
- Software Skills: Proficient in MS Office, designing, editing and writing digital tools including Canva, Mailchimp, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc., and web content management software such as WordPress.

Compensation: A salary that is commensurate with the market and experience of the right candidate.
