Summary:
As a Custom Software Engineer, a typical day involves creating tailored software solutions by designing, coding, and improving various components within systems or applications. The role requires working with contemporary frameworks and following agile methodologies to ensure the delivery of scalable and efficient solutions that meet unique business requirements. Collaboration with different teams and continuous refinement of software elements are integral parts of the daily workflow, fostering innovation and responsiveness to evolving project demands.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and enhance RICEFW objects (Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms, Workflows) within SAP IS-U.
- Work on IS-U specific modules: Device Management (DM), Meter Reading, Billing & Invoicing (BI), and Contract Accounts Receivable/Payable (FICA).
- Develop and debug EMMA (Event Management), IDE (Intercompany Data Exchange), and SD/MM integration points relevant to utilities.
- Build enhancements using BAdIs, User Exits, Enhancement Points, and Event Management (function module–based events in IS-U).
- Develop custom reports using ALV, and interfaces via IDocs, BAPIs, RFCs, and Proxies (PI/PO or Integration Suite).
- Create/modify SAPscript, Smart Forms, and Adobe Forms for bills, invoices, and correspondence.
- Support data migration using EMIGALL / SAP Migration Cockpit for utility master data.
- Performance tuning, code remediation, and S/4HANA Utilities readiness (CDS Views, AMDP, code pushdown).
- Expected to be an SME, collaborate and manage the team to perform.
- Responsible for team decisions.
- Engage with multiple teams and contribute on key decisions.
- Expected to provide solutions to problems that apply across multiple teams.
- Lead the coordination of project activities to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
- Mentor junior team members to support their professional growth and skill development.
- Facilitate communication between stakeholders to promote transparency and effective problem-solving.
Professional & Technical Skills:
- Core ABAP: OOABAP, ALV, BDC, Enhancements, Debugging.
- IS-U knowledge: business master data (Business Partner, Contract Account, Contract, Installation, Device), billing/invoicing flow.
- IDoc/BAPI/RFC, OData/Gateway, CDS Views, AMDP.
- Familiarity with EMIGALL and IS-U event framework.
- Must To Have Skills: Proficiency in SAP ABAP Development for HANA.
- Experience in developing and optimizing custom code for high-performance applications.
- Strong knowledge of database integration and data processing within SAP environments.
- Ability to work with agile development practices and modern software frameworks.
- Skilled in debugging, testing, and maintaining software components to ensure reliability and efficiency.
Additional Information:
- Nice to Have: S/4HANA Utilities (C4U/BPEM), SAP CX/Utilities Cloud integration.
- The candidate should have minimum 12 years of experience in SAP ABAP Development for HANA.
- This position is based at our PDC3C - SEZ location.
- A 15 years full time education is required.
