The Merchandiser is responsible for planning, sourcing, and managing product assortments to ensure the right product is available at the right time, quantity, and price. The role focuses on maximizing sales, maintaining stock efficiency, and coordinating with vendors, stores, and internal teams.
Job Description
- Plan and manage product assortments based on sales trends, seasonality, and customer demand
- Coordinate with vendors for product sourcing, pricing, sampling, and timelines
- Monitor stock levels, replenishments, and inventory movement to avoid overstock or stock-outs
- Track purchase orders, deliveries, and inwarding of merchandise
- Conduct regular stock checks and analyze sell-through reports
- Work closely with the store team to ensure proper product display and VM standards
- Manage markdowns, transfers, and slow-moving stock
- Ensure product quality, pricing accuracy, and compliance with company standards
- Maintain accurate records in ERP / inventory systems
- Support new launches, promotions, and seasonal collections
Skills and Competencies
- Strong understanding of retail merchandising and inventory management
- Good analytical and numerical skills
- Vendor coordination and negotiation abilities
- Attention to detail and strong follow-up skills
- Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP systems
- Ability to work under timelines and manage multiple tasks
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion, Retail Management, or related field
- 1–5 years of experience in merchandising (fashion / apparel / lifestyle preferred)
- Experience in retail, or brand merchandising is an advantage
