OutMazed Group is building a modern, cloud-native travel distribution platform for an established UAE travel group.
The platform will support wholesale travel distribution, B2B agent bookings and B2C customer bookings. It will integrate with multiple hotel suppliers and manage search, pricing, revalidation, booking, cancellation, financial reconciliation and operational workflows.
This is a greenfield engineering project. You will work in a small, senior team with significant ownership and direct influence over the quality of the platform.
About the Role
We are hiring a Senior Backend Engineer with strong .NET and API-integration experience.
You will build supplier connectors, booking workflows, pricing services and operational components. The work involves real production concerns: inconsistent third-party APIs, rate limits, timeouts, retries, changing prices, duplicate requests and partial supplier failures.
We are looking for an engineer who designs clean boundaries, writes tests and builds systems that remain maintainable after the first supplier integration.
What You Will Do
- Build hotel-supplier connectors, beginning with Hotelbeds and TBO.
- Implement search, re-price, book and cancel operations through a common internal connector SDK.
- Integrate with REST, XML and SOAP-based supplier APIs.
- Normalise different supplier payloads into consistent internal models.
- Build resilient outbound integrations using timeouts, retries, circuit breakers and rate limiting.
- Contribute to the event-sourced booking core.
- Build pricing, markup, commission and commercial-rule logic.
- Develop mid-office, ledger and reconciliation components.
- Implement idempotent booking and cancellation workflows.
- Write unit, integration and contract tests as part of normal development.
- Diagnose supplier failures using structured logging, tracing and operational metrics.
- Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews and technical planning.
- Work closely with frontend, product and operational teams in India and the UAE.
Required Experience
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong production experience with .NET and C#.
- Strong experience integrating external APIs.
- Experience with REST APIs and XML or SOAP services.
- Understanding of API authentication schemes, token handling and credential security.
- Strong asynchronous programming and concurrency skills.
- Experience implementing timeouts, retry policies, circuit breakers and failure isolation.
- Strong PostgreSQL and relational database experience.
- Genuine automated-testing discipline, including unit and integration testing.
- Ability to design clean, modular and maintainable code.
- Good understanding of SOLID principles without overengineering.
- Experience debugging production issues involving external systems.
- Clear written and verbal technical communication.
Preferred Experience
- Travel technology, hotel booking systems, bedbanks or GDS integrations.
- Hotelbeds, TBO or similar travel supplier APIs.
- Event sourcing and CQRS.
- Marten, EventStoreDB or similar technologies.
- Redis, Kafka or message-driven architectures.
- AWS and cloud-native application development.
- Docker, Terraform and CI/CD pipelines.
- Financial ledger, reconciliation or transaction-processing systems.
Engineering Expectations
You should be comfortable dealing with:
- Suppliers returning different schemas for similar concepts.
- Slow, unavailable or rate-limited third-party services.
- Search prices changing before booking.
- Duplicate booking requests.
- Partial failures across distributed workflows.
- Idempotency, auditability and safe retries.
- Codebases that must support many suppliers without copying entire implementations.
We value clear abstractions and tested code. We do not value unnecessary frameworks, premature complexity or oversized classes that accumulate unrelated responsibilities.
Paid Technical Exercise
Shortlisted candidates will complete a paid technical exercise requiring approximately half a day.
You will receive a mock hotel-supplier API supporting search and booking.
You will be asked to:
- Build a small supplier connector.
- Execute a hotel search.
- Normalise the supplier response into a provided internal model.
- Book a selected rate.
- Add appropriate timeouts and error handling.
- Write meaningful automated tests.
- Explain how a second supplier with a different API could be added without duplicating core logic.
We are evaluating integration design, code structure, resilience and testing—not the number of features completed.
