Position Summary:
The Wi-Fi Network Planner & Designer is responsible for heatmap designing, planning, analysing, and optimising wireless network coverage for commercial, industrial, warehouse, retail, healthcare and office environments. The role involves conducting desktop based RF surveys, creating predictive and post-deployment heatmaps, developing access point placement strategies and ensuring wireless networks meet performance, capacity, roaming and coverage requirements. Design may include both, Green and Brownfields.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design wireless LAN (WLAN) solutions for new and existing sites.
- Develop predictive Wi-Fi designs/heatmaps using floor plans, building materials and client requirements.
- Determine optimal Access Point (AP) placement, antenna selection, transmit power, and channel plans.
- Plan coverage for voice, data, handheld scanners, IoT devices, and high-density environments.
- Design networks for 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz wireless technologies.
- Create predictive heatmaps using industry-standard tools
- Analyse wi-fi network key performance indicators for the design
- Produce coverage, capacity, and performance heatmaps.
- Generate professional survey and planning reports.
- Produce detailed floor plans and heatmap reports
- Maintain accurate network design documentation.
Required Skills & Experience
- Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Telecommunications, Networking, or related field.
- 1 - 2+ years of wireless network design/heatmap design experience.
- Experience in developing heatmaps/design for warehouse and logistics environments.
- Strong understanding of IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be standards, RF propagation principles and WLAN architecture
- Wireless security (WPA2, WPA3, 802.1X)
- Experience with any of industry wi-fi design/heatmap design tools/applications
- Industry certifications preferred:
- CWNP Certified Wireless Network Administrator (CWNA)
- CWNP Certified Wireless Design Professional (CWDP)
