You will:
- Own end-to-end investigation, diagnosis, and resolution of complex customer-impacting issues across DBS and strategic subsystems including NOS, OFS, and OTF.
- Diagnose and resolve issues involving SQL Engine, data access paths, execution behavior, cloud storage integration, resource management, and cross-component interactions.
- Deliver high-quality code fixes, diagnostic enhancements, and product improvements that improve platform reliability and customer experience.
- Drive technical investigations across SQLE, PDE, Storage, NOS, OFS, OTF, Cloud, and Performance Engineering teams to resolve complex system-wide issues.
- Support high-severity customer escalations and provide technical leadership during critical production incidents.
- Perform root cause analysis and translate customer learnings into long-term engineering improvements.
- Collaborate with Product Engineering and System Performance Engineering to address reliability, scalability, and performance challenges.
- Improve diagnostics, troubleshooting methodologies, and sustaining engineering best practices.
- Contribute to release readiness activities including defect risk assessment, validation planning, and customer impact analysis.
- Develop and maintain subsystem expertise in NOS, OFS, and OTF while helping scale knowledge across the organization.
- Influence engineering decisions through insights derived from real-world customer workload behavior and production environments.
Success in this role looks like:
- Customer-impacting issues are diagnosed and resolved with speed, quality, and technical rigor.
- Strategic subsystems including NOS, OFS, and OTF demonstrate improved reliability, supportability, and customer adoption.
- Time-to-diagnosis for complex DBS issues is significantly reduced.
- Root causes are accurately identified and addressed through durable fixes and preventative improvements.
- High-severity customer incidents are managed effectively with clear technical leadership and communication.
- Diagnostic capabilities and troubleshooting practices scale across teams through improved tooling, documentation, and knowledge sharing.
- Product quality and customer trust improve across releases.
- Strong partnerships are established across Sustaining, SQLE, PDE, Product Engineering, Support, and Performance Engineering teams.
