Delhi Public School, Gurugram, Sector 67A is looking for a caring, responsible, and student-focused professional to join its upcoming Residential Boarding Programme as a House Parent.
The House Parent will play a vital role in creating a safe, nurturing, disciplined, and homely environment where students feel supported, valued, and encouraged to grow into confident and responsible individuals.
Key Responsibilities
Student Care & Wellbeing
- Take responsibility for the day-to-day care, safety, and wellbeing of boarding students.
- Build strong and trusting relationships with students and act as a mentor, guide, and positive role model.
- Understand students’ individual needs and provide appropriate emotional and pastoral support.
- Monitor students’ physical, emotional, social, and personal wellbeing.
- Identify concerns at an early stage and report/escalate them to the appropriate school personnel.
Daily Residential Life
- Supervise students during morning routines, meals, study hours, recreation, activities, and bedtime.
- Ensure students follow appropriate routines related to discipline, hygiene, grooming, and personal responsibility.
- Encourage students to develop independence, time management, responsibility, and life skills.
- Maintain a positive and structured residential environment.
Mentoring & Development
- Support students in developing confidence, resilience, self-discipline, and positive habits.
- Encourage participation in sports, cultural activities, clubs, house events, and recreational programmes.
- Foster a sense of belonging, community, teamwork, and house spirit.
- Encourage students to communicate openly and seek support whenever required.
Parent & School Coordination
- Maintain regular and effective communication with parents/guardians regarding students’ wellbeing and residential life.
- Coordinate closely with teachers, wardens, counsellors, nurses, and school leadership.
- Support the implementation of school and boarding policies, safeguarding practices, and emergency procedures.
- Maintain appropriate records and communicate important student-related observations to the concerned team.
Desired Profile
- Experience in boarding schools, residential schools, pastoral care, student welfare, or child development will be preferred.
- Experience working with K–12 students is desirable.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, mentoring, and student-management skills.
- A patient, empathetic, approachable, and responsible personality.
- Ability to maintain a healthy balance between care, guidance, discipline, and boundaries.
- Strong sense of responsibility, confidentiality, and safeguarding.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a residential school team.
