Designation: Engineer - PPC
Production Planning & Scheduling
- Develop daily, weekly, and monthly production plans for injection molding machines.
- Create machine-wise production schedules based on customer demand, sales forecasts, and inventory requirements.
- Optimize machine loading and capacity utilization across the molding department.
- Plan mold changeovers and production sequencing to minimize downtime and setup losses.
- Monitor production progress and adjust schedules to address changing priorities.
Material Planning
- Coordinate with the procurement and stores teams to ensure timely availability of raw materials, color masterbatches, packaging materials, and inserts.
- Monitor material consumption and inventory levels to prevent production interruptions.
- Support inventory optimization initiatives and reduce excess stock.
Capacity & Resource Planning
- Conduct capacity planning for machines, molds, manpower, and auxiliary equipment.
- Analyze production constraints and recommend solutions to improve throughput.
- Support new product launches through effective production planning and resource allocation.
Production Monitoring
- Track production performance against plan.
- Monitor machine utilization, OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), and schedule adherence.
- Identify bottlenecks and coordinate corrective actions with relevant departments.
- Ensure planned versus actual production reporting is maintained accurately.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Liaise with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Tool Room, Logistics, and Sales teams.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules with production plans.
- Ensure tooling availability and readiness for scheduled production runs.
Continuous Improvement
- Participate in Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and productivity improvement initiatives.
- Develop planning strategies to reduce lead times and improve delivery performance.
- Analyze production data and prepare reports for management review.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain production planning records and scheduling documentation.
- Generate Daily Production Reports (DPR), capacity utilization reports, and inventory reports.
- Prepare KPI dashboards related to delivery performance, plan adherence, machine utilization, and inventory levels.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Polymer Engineering, or related field.
Experience
- 3-8 years of experience in production planning within an injection molding or plastics manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with high-volume manufacturing operations preferred.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of injection molding processes and manufacturing operations.
- Production planning and scheduling expertise.
- Capacity planning and inventory management knowledge.
- Understanding of molds, machine capacities, cycle times, and production efficiency metrics.
- ERP/MRP system experience (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Epicor, etc.).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and OEE concepts.
