Job Summary
The Storekeeper is responsible for receiving, storing, issuing & maintaining inventory of raw materials, packaging materials, engineering spares, consumables & finished goods in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Storage Practices (GSP) & company SOPs. The role ensures inventory accuracy, material traceability & compliance with quality & regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management
- Receive incoming materials & verify them against PO, delivery challans & invoices.
- Ensure proper storage of raw materials, packaging materials, finished goods.
- Maintain inventory records.
- Monitor stock levels & initiate replenishment requests to avoid shortages.
- Conduct daily, weekly & monthly stock verification & reconciliation.
- Implement FIFO (First In, First Out) and FEFO (First Expiry, First Out) inventory practices.
Material Handling
- Issue materials to production departments based on approved material requisitions.
- Ensure proper labeling, identification & traceability of all materials.
- Handle materials safely to prevent damage, contamination, or mix-ups.
Documentation
- Maintain accurate records of receipts, issues, transfers & stock balances.
- Prepare Goods Receipt Notes (GRNs), material issue slips & stock reports.
- Maintain batch-wise & expiry-wise inventory records.
- Ensure all documentation complies with GMP & regulatory requirements.
Compliance & Quality
- Follow GMP, GSP, and warehouse SOPs at all times.
- Support internal, external & regulatory audits.
- Ensure warehouse cleanliness, hygiene & pest control.
- Maintain proper storage conditions including temperature
- Report damaged, expired, or non-conforming materials to the Quality department.
Coordination
- Coordinate with Procurement, Production, Quality Assurance (QA), Quality Control (QC) & Logistics teams.
- Assist in planning material availability for production schedules.
- Support periodic inventory audits & stock reconciliation.
Safety
- Follow all workplace health, safety & environmental (HSE) procedures.
- Ensure safe operation of material handling equipment.
- Maintain proper housekeeping & storage practices to minimize risks.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Any Degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field.
- Certification in Inventory or Warehouse Management.
Experience
- 2–5 years of experience as a Storekeeper or Warehouse Executive.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical warehouse operations.
- Understanding of GMP, GSP & inventory control procedures.
- Knowledge of FIFO & FEFO inventory systems.
- Strong documentation & record-keeping skills.
- Good communication & coordination abilities.
- Inventory accuracy.
- Timely receipt & issue of materials.
- Zero stock discrepancies.
- Timely completion of stock audits.
- Material availability for production.
- Warehouse housekeeping & safety compliance.
- Reduction in inventory losses due to damage or expiry.
Working Conditions
- Work in warehouse and storage areas with adherence to safety & quality standards.
- May require shift work depending on production schedules.
- Use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as per company policy.
