Consumer Credit Risk Role - Officer
Overview
The Consumer Credit Risk Officer role is a pivotal position responsible for safeguarding the integrity, compliance, and operational excellence of credit risk management activities. These roles collectively ensure that critical credit data is accurately managed, integrated, and utilized, adhering to stringent regulatory requirements while fostering continuous innovation and cross-functional alignment.
High-Level Responsibilities
- Data Management & Governance:
- Ensuring accuracy, integrity, security, and quality of data.
- Implementing robust data governance frameworks and controls.
- Managing data integration from various sources, especially third-party credit bureaus.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensuring strict adherence to legal and regulatory standards (FCRA, OCC, CFPB, Federal Reserve).
- Applying compliance across all data processes, systems, and reporting.
- Risk Management:
- Identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks related to data quality, credit risk models, and regulatory non-compliance.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Acting as a key liaison and collaborating with internal stakeholders (e.g., Risk, IT, Compliance, Legal, Finance, Business units).
- Innovation & Continuous Improvement:
- Leading initiatives to drive automation, enhance efficiency, and improve scalability of data management, testing, and compliance.
- Leveraging emerging technologies such as AI/ML.
- Strategy and Operations:
- Contributing to the development and implementation of credit risk strategies.
- Ensuring operational excellence in credit risk processes.
High-Level Qualifications
- Educational Background:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Finance, Risk Management, IT).
- Credit Risk Expertise:
- 2+ years of experience in consumer credit risk management or financial services.
- Understanding of credit risk models and decisioning systems.
- Data Proficiency:
- Strong capabilities in data analysis, data integration, and managing complex data sets.
- Proficiency with relevant technical tools and platforms (e.g., SAS, SQL).
- Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills:
- Analytical mindset to interpret complex data and identify issues.
- Ability to provide actionable insights and drive effective solutions in dynamic environments.
- Communication & Leadership:
- Consistently demonstrate clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to convey complex information to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated leadership potential and ability to influence and collaborate effectively.
- Regulatory Acumen:
- Solid understanding of the regulatory landscape affecting credit reporting and risk management.
- Experience in ensuring compliance.
