Job Description:
The Technician in Haematology will be responsible for performing a variety of laboratory procedures in the field of haematology and ensuring accurate and timely test results. The primary duties include collecting and processing blood specimens, conducting various haematological tests, maintaining laboratory equipment, and adhering to safety and quality control standards. This role also involves collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure patient care and providing support in research activities as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine and specialized haematological tests including CBC, differential count, coagulation studies, and blood smears.
- Collect blood samples from patients efficiently and safely, ensuring patient comfort and adherence to protocol.
- Analyze and interpret test results, reporting findings to physicians and other healthcare professionals.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, ensuring that all tools are functioning properly and in accordance with laboratory standards.
- Follow strict safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Participate in quality control measures and continuously improve laboratory processes to enhance service quality.
- Keep accurate records of tests performed and results obtained, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with regulations.
- Assist in training and mentoring junior staff and new employees as required.
- Stay updated on advancements in haematology techniques and technologies.
Skills and Tools Required:
- Strong knowledge of haematological laboratory techniques and procedures.
- Proficient in using laboratory equipment such as microscopes, analyzers, and centrifuges.
- Familiarity with quality control protocols and laboratory safety standards.
