Job Title: Laboratory Assistant (Medical)
Job Overview
Oxymed Hospital (Chennai) is seeking a disciplined and detail-oriented Laboratory Assistant to support our diagnostic and clinical laboratory operations. The ideal candidate will assist medical laboratory technicians and pathologists in collecting, processing, and organizing patient samples while maintaining strict quality control and safety standards.
Location Constraint: Candidates must currently reside in Chennai or be willing to immediately relocate. Local residents of Chennai and nearby areas are strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Sample Collection & Handling: Assist with the collection, proper labeling, storage, and pre-analytical preparation of patient specimens (blood, tissue, fluids).
- Data Entry & Management: Accurately enter patient information, test requests, and diagnostic results into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Equipment Maintenance: Clean, sterilize, and maintain essential laboratory equipment, glassware, and workstations according to infection control protocols.
- Inventory Control: Monitor laboratory supplies, reagents, and consumables; report shortages to the Lab In-charge to ensure timely reordering.
- Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to hospital safety guidelines, hazardous waste disposal protocols, and hospital quality standards (such as NABH guidelines).
- Administrative Support: Help answer telephone inquiries, retrieve authorized patient reports, and manage daily lab logs.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT), B.Sc. in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT), or a related scientific discipline (12th Pass with relevant hospital lab experience may be considered).
- Experience: 0 to 2 years of experience in a hospital or diagnostic laboratory setting. Freshers with strong practical internship training are welcome to apply.
- Skills: Basic understanding of medical terminology and laboratory safety.Familiarity with data entry and basic computer skills.Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions.
Shift Flexibility: Willingness to work in rotational shifts based on hospital requirements.
Salary & Compensation
Expected Monthly Salary ₹12,000 – ₹18,000 per month
