Maintenance & Asset Manager – Manufacturing Plant
Job Overview
M2Balu Export is seeking an experienced Maintenance & Asset Manager to oversee the maintenance, reliability, and performance of all company assets, including production machinery, factory utilities, vehicles, material handling equipment, and infrastructure.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring maximum equipment uptime through preventive maintenance, managing vehicle maintenance and documentation, maintaining spare parts inventory, reducing breakdowns, and supporting continuous improvement across the factory.
The ideal candidate should have strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, excellent planning ability, and experience managing maintenance operations in a manufacturing environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesMachinery & Equipment Maintenance
- Plan, implement, and monitor preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance for all production machinery.
- Attend machine breakdowns promptly and ensure minimum production downtime.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and utility-related issues.
- Prepare annual, monthly, weekly, and daily maintenance schedules.
- Coordinate maintenance activities with the Production team to avoid production delays.
- Monitor machine performance and recommend improvements to increase productivity and equipment reliability.
- Assist in installation, commissioning, relocation, and upgrading of machinery.
- Maintain complete maintenance history for every machine.
Vehicle & Equipment Management
- Manage maintenance of all company vehicles, including cars, pickups, trucks, tractors, forklifts, and other material handling equipment.
- Schedule periodic servicing, repairs, tyre replacement, and preventive maintenance.
- Maintain records of insurance, registration, permits, fitness certificates, pollution certificates, road tax, and other statutory documents.
- Monitor fuel consumption, repair costs, and vehicle utilization.
- Coordinate with workshops and service centres for major repairs.
Spare Parts & Inventory Management
- Maintain inventory of machine spare parts, vehicle spare parts, lubricants, tools, electrical items, bearings, belts, motors, hydraulic components, and maintenance consumables.
- Identify and maintain minimum stock levels for all critical spare parts.
- Raise purchase requests for maintenance materials and follow up with the Purchase Department.
- Prevent production delays due to shortage of spare parts.
- Ensure proper storage and identification of maintenance inventory.
Factory Infrastructure & Utilities
- Maintain factory buildings, warehouses, offices, roads, compound walls, drainage systems, and utilities.
- Ensure proper functioning of compressors, electrical panels, DG sets, water systems, pumps, lighting, and other utility equipment.
- Coordinate civil, electrical, and fabrication work whenever required.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain maintenance logs, breakdown reports, preventive maintenance records, calibration schedules, and equipment history.
- Prepare monthly reports on machine uptime, downtime, maintenance costs, spare parts consumption, and vehicle maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with statutory maintenance and safety requirements.
- Maintain Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMCs) and coordinate with equipment suppliers.
Continuous Improvement
- Reduce machine breakdowns through root cause analysis and preventive actions.
- Improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Identify opportunities to reduce maintenance costs without compromising reliability.
- Train operators on basic machine care and autonomous maintenance practices.
- Support implementation of 5S, TPM, Lean Manufacturing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in maintenance within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in the cocopeat, coir, agricultural products, or process manufacturing industry is preferred.
