Job summary:
The Tool Crib Executive is responsible for managing and maintaining the inventory, distribution, and organization of tools and equipment within a manufacturing or industrial setup. This role plays a vital part in supporting production efficiency by minimizing downtime due to tool unavailability and ensuring tools are maintained and stored in line with safety and maintenance standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Maintain accurate records of tool inventory, usage, and monitor tool life.
2. Coordinate with the planning team for the production as planned.
3. Issue and receive Tools, Fixtures, Jigs & fasteners as per the tool sheet or process sheet to employees, ensuring proper documentation.
4. Load the tools in the holder as defined in the tool sheet and keep the tool trolley.
5. Inspect New tools for damage or wear and coordinate repairs or replacements as needed.
6. Organize and label tools in the Tool crib for easy access and efficient workflow.
7. On daily/weekly check, the stock reports of cutting tools and inform the Tool crib lead of purchasing shorter inventory tools before the end.
8. Supports Production and Engineering to manage and guarantee on-time availability of tools to ensure continuous production and increase OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness).
9. Assist in audits by providing necessary documentation and demonstrating compliance.
10. Knowledge of reading and interpreting engineering drawings, including GD&T and technical specifications.

Education & Experience:
· Education: ITI / Diploma (Polytechnic/NTTF/GTTC), BE in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
· Experience: 0–3 years’ experience in a tool crib or tool management role, preferably in machining or manufacturing industries
· Technical Skills:
* Hands-on experience with ERP or inventory management systems
* Familiarity with cutting tools, tool holders, gauges, and fixtures used in CNC/machining operations
* Basic knowledge of tool calibration and preventive maintenance
· Computer Skills: Proficient in MS Excel, Word, and email communication
· Interpersonal Skills:
* Strong communication and collaboration abilities
* Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team
* Exposure to 5S practices, lean systems, or basic training in tool room/tool crib operations
Preferred Certifications:
i. Tool Crib Operations / Tool Management Certification
– Offered by organizations like NTTF, IMTMA, or other vocational training institutes; ensures knowledge of tool storage, issuance, calibration, and maintenance procedures.
ii. Basic CNC Tooling and Machining Practices Certification
– Helps understand the types of tools, their usage in CNC machines, and care/maintenance practices; often offered by institutes like MSME Tool Rooms, GTTC, or similar.
