KEY RESULT AREAS & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Design and Engineering
- Develop MEP system designs and specifications in compliance with building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Ensure designed MEP system is cost-effective as well as operationally efficient.
- Review architectural and structural plans to ensure coordination and integration of MEP systems with MEP consultants (if any). Specifically identify and resolve MEP-related issues during the design, construction, and occupancy phases of projects.
- Conduct feasibility studies and evaluate different design options for MEP systems.
- Prepare and present technical reports, calculations, and drawings related to MEP systems to management for approval (ensuring systems are cost-effective and easy to execute/perform).
2. System Management
- Supervise and coordinate the operation, maintenance, and repair of all Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems within the commercial mall, including HVAC, lighting, power distribution, water supply, and drainage systems.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure the reliability and longevity of MEP systems, minimizing downtime and disruptions to mall operations.
- Monitor system performance, energy consumption, and operational efficiency, implementing measures to optimize performance and reduce operating costs.
3. Project Management
- Collaborate with project teams including architects, contractors, vendors, and consultants to develop project plans and schedules.
- Coordinate and manage the implementation of MEP systems throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential risks/issues, and develop mitigation strategies. Flag any delays or quality compromises to the reporting authority immediately while actively resolving them through respective personel.
- Conduct site inspections and quality control checks to ensure adherence to design specifications and industry standards.
- Guide and train team members to perform their jobs correctly by implementing the right methods.
4. Vendor and Supplier Management
- Upon request of the purchase department, source and evaluate MEP vendors/suppliers ensuring reliable, high-quality products/services, OR technically assist the purchase & contract department in selecting and finalizing eligible vendors.
- Manage vendor relationships, assist the purchase department in contract negotiations, and monitor vendor performance to ensure timely delivery and cost-effectiveness.
- Review and approve vendor and supplier submittals, shop drawings, and material samples.
5. MEP Systems Installation and Commissioning
- Supervise and oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of MEP systems.
- Ensure strict compliance with project specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards.
- Conduct inspections and tests to verify proper functioning and performance of MEP systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues or deficiencies during the installation and commissioning process.
6. Energy Efficiency and Sustainability
- Promote energy-efficient and sustainable practices in MEP system design and operation.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements and trends in energy conservation and green building technologies.
- Recommend and implement energy-saving measures and sustainable solutions.
7. Team Collaboration and Coordination
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of MEP systems with overall project design.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to resolve conflicts and achieve system compatibility.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and project teams.
8. Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate documentation of MEP design, calculations, specifications, and project-related correspondence.
- Prepare progress reports, technical presentations, and other documentation as required.
- Keep abreast of industry standards, regulations, and emerging technologies related to MEP systems.
