We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Writer to lead the development of high-quality technical documentation for complex enterprise software products and release materials. This role requires strong expertise in structured authoring, documentation strategy, and cross-functional collaboration. The Senior Technical Writer will own documentation deliverables, define standards, mentor junior writers, and help improve documentation processes across teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the creation, review, and maintenance of advanced technical documentation including user guides, deployment guides, troubleshooting content, architecture overviews, and release notes.
- Partner with engineering, product management, QA, support, and other stakeholders to gather technical details and translate them into clear, accurate documentation.
- Lead documentation planning for product releases and Agile sprints.
- Define and maintain documentation standards, templates, style guides, and information architecture.
- Use structured authoring tools and content management systems to produce scalable, reusable documentation.
- Review and improve existing documentation for clarity, consistency, and completeness.
- Mentor junior technical writers and provide feedback on writing quality, process, and documentation practices.
- Improve documentation workflows, publishing processes, and version control practices.
- Contribute to documentation strategy, content governance, and cross-product consistency.
- Support customer-facing documentation updates, and internal knowledge management initiatives as needed.
Required Skills
- Strong technical writing experience in software, enterprise, or technical product environments
- Excellent written communication and editorial skills
- Hands-on experience with DITA, XML, and structured authoring tools such as Oxygen Author
- Experience with Git/GitHub, version control, Azure Devops (ADO) and collaboration workflows
- Familiarity with documentation publishing systems, CMS platforms, and CI/CD-based publishing processes
- Strong ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Proven experience collaborating with engineering and product teams
- Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum documentation processes and release cycles

- Experience documenting APIs, deployment processes, cloud platforms, or enterprise software
- Familiarity with ADO, Confluence, or similar tools
- Experience improving documentation systems, workflows, or content governance
- Ability to mentor or lead other writers
- Understanding of software development lifecycle and technical product architecture
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Computer Science, or a related field
- 6+ years of technical writing experience, preferably in software or enterprise environments
