- Conduct engineering analysis including stress, thermal, and fatigue calculations to validate robotic designs.
- Prepare and review technical drawings, BOMs (Bills of Materials), and engineering documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, procurement, and quality to ensure design feasibility and cost-effectiveness.
- Support prototype development, testing, and validation of mechanical systems.
- Identify root causes of mechanical failures and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards, safety codes, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in design reviews, project planning meetings, and vendor discussions.
- Track project milestones and communicate progress to project leads and stakeholders.
- Kinematics & Linkage Design: Expertise in forward/inverse kinematics, Degrees of Freedom (DOF) optimization, and robotic arm/gantry linkage architecture
Required Skills
- CAD Proficiency - SolidWorks, Autodesk Fusion 360 , CATIA, or Creo for 2D/3D modeling and drafting
- GD&T - Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing for precise engineering drawings
- Engineering Analysis - Basic FEA (Finite Element Analysis) for stress, thermal, and structural validation
- Design for Manufacturing (DFM) - Understanding of machining, casting, forging, sheet metal, and injection molding processes
- Bill of Materials (BOM) - Creation and management of component lists and assemblies
- Technical Documentation - Preparing and reviewing engineering drawings, reports, and specifications
- Control Systems - Understanding of closed-loop control feedback, different control algorithms.
- Simulation software - a working knowledge of Matlab & Smulink. (Simscape multibody)
- Structural Dynamics - Perform dynamic structural analysis on mechanical components/ assemblies and evaluate design integrity under time-varying, transient, and harmonic loading conditions.
- Hands on experience in designing, simulating, prototyping and testing mechanical parts end to end.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering .
- Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA, AutoCAD, or similar).
- Working knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
