Job Summary
The Pharmacist is responsible for dispensing medications accurately, ensuring safe and effective medication use, maintaining inventory, and providing pharmaceutical care in accordance with hospital policies, NABH standards, and statutory regulations.
Key ResponsibilitiesMedication Dispensing
- Dispense prescribed medications accurately as per the doctor's prescription.
- Verify prescriptions for dosage, drug interactions, allergies, and contraindications.
- Ensure correct labeling, packaging, and storage of medicines.
Patient Care
- Counsel patients on the proper use of medications, dosage, precautions, and possible side effects.
- Provide medication-related information to patients and healthcare professionals.
- Promote rational and safe use of medicines.
Inventory Management
- Maintain adequate stock of medicines and consumables.
- Monitor expiry dates and ensure timely removal of expired or damaged medicines.
- Assist in procurement and stock replenishment.
- Maintain records of narcotic and scheduled drugs as per applicable regulations.
Quality & Compliance
- Comply with NABH standards, Drugs and Cosmetics Act, and hospital pharmacy policies.
- Follow infection prevention and control practices.
- Ensure proper storage conditions for medicines, including temperature-sensitive drugs.
Documentation
- Maintain accurate dispensing records and inventory registers.
- Update pharmacy records in the Hospital Information System (HIS).
- Prepare daily and monthly pharmacy reports as required.
Coordination
- Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals regarding medication requirements.
- Participate in medication safety initiatives and quality improvement activities.
Safety Responsibilities
- Report medication errors, adverse drug reactions (ADR), and near-miss incidents.
- Ensure safe handling and disposal of expired and damaged medicines.
- Participate in emergency drug management.
Qualification
- Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm) / Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm)
Registration
- Valid State Pharmacy Council Registration (Mandatory)
Experience
- Freshers or experienced candidates may apply.
- Hospital pharmacy experience is preferred.
