Job Summary: The Raw Material Inspector is responsible for inspecting and verifying incoming raw materials to ensure they meet specified quality standards, technical specifications, and purchase requirements before acceptance for production. The role involves conducting visual and dimensional inspections, maintaining inspection records, identifying and reporting non-conforming materials, coordinating with Stores, Purchase, Production, and suppliers for quality-related issues, and ensuring compliance with the organisation's quality management systems and procedures. Key Responsibilities: • Inspect incoming raw materials against approved specifications, drawings and quality standards. • Perform visual, dimensional and functional inspection of all incoming materials. • Verify supplier test certificates, COAs and other quality documents where applicable. • Approve, reject or quarantine incoming materials based on inspection results. • Identify, record and report non-conforming materials and coordinate corrective actions with Purchase and suppliers. • Ensure proper sampling and testing of raw materials as per established inspection plans. • Maintain accurate incoming inspection records, reports and traceability documentation. • Co-ordinate with Stores for material receipt, identification, segregation and release for production. • Monitor supplier quality performance and provide feedback on recurring quality issues. • Assist in supplier audits, quality evaluations and new supplier qualification activities. • Ensure compliance with ISO/IATF quality systems, customer requirements and internal inspection procedures. • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance incoming material quality and reduce defects. • Maintain inspection instruments and ensure timely calibration of measuring equipment. • Support Production and Quality teams in investigating raw material-related quality issues. • Ensure safe housekeeping practices and adherence to EHS guidelines within the inspection area. Qualifications: • Education: Any Graduate / Engineer • Experience: 2–3 years of inward inspection in a manufacturing industry. Skills & Competencies: • Strong knowledge of incoming raw material inspection techniques and quality control practices. • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, material specifications, and inspection standards. • Proficiency in using measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other inspection tools. • Knowledge of sampling plans, inspection methods, and acceptance criteria. • Ability to verify supplier quality documents including test certificates and compliance records. • Understanding of non-conformance management, material segregation and corrective action processes. • Knowledge of ISO 9001, IATF 16949 and quality management system requirements. • Familiarity with inspection documentation, traceability and record management practices. • Understanding of supplier quality assurance, supplier audits and vendor quality evaluation processes. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for identifying material quality issues and root causes. • Good communication and coordination skills for working with Purchase, Stores, Production, Quality and suppliers. • Ability to maintain and handle inspection and measuring equipment, including calibration awareness. • Proficiency in MS Office and ERP systems for inspection reporting and record keeping. • Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy and quality consciousness. • Commitment to workplace safety and housekeeping requirements. • Good documentation and record keeping skills. • Good proficiency in English, Marathi and Hindi.
