Job Summary:
A Fitter is responsible for assembling, installing, repairing, and maintaining mechanical equipment, machinery, and metal structures. They use hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments to ensure components are fitted accurately and safely.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Assemble and fit mechanical components, pipes, and metal structures.
- Measure, cut, drill, grind, and shape materials to required dimensions.
- Install, align, and adjust machinery and equipment.
- Perform maintenance, repairs, and replacement of worn or damaged parts.
- Inspect finished work to ensure quality and accuracy.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments safely.
- Follow workplace safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean work area.
Required Skills
- Ability to read engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Knowledge of fitting, assembly, and fabrication techniques.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Good attention to detail and teamwork.
- Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy materials.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- ITI/Fitter trade certificate or equivalent vocational qualification.
- Experience in mechanical fitting, fabrication, or industrial maintenance is preferred.
